I bought this last night and I haven't been more pleased. This was definitely worth spending $10.75 on.
...and a mighty fine job of it too. Just purchased this item minutes ago for my 94 Dakota. I hooked it up in the parking lot and away I went. It sounds excellent.
I recently bought a used Infiniti with a very nice Bose stereo. Problem is the CD player doesn't work, but everything else does and it's a great sounding unit. I needed a way to interface my MP3 Player with the Bose -- I have 100,000 MP3s (I'm not kidding), and who needs the CD player if I can play those?! The car is older, so it's before they had the nice aux. inputs like the new ones have. I hooked my MP3 Player to this adaptor and it sounds fantastic!! Also tried it in another car that has a very nice stereo and it works just the same. If it stopped working tomorrow I'd go get a new one... I read A LOT of reviews on these cassette adaptors, and far and away the Phillips unit gets the highest marks of them all, everywhere I looked, and I now agree...
I have bought two of these and none of them worked perfectly. The sound quality is better than the two other brands I tried (a Dynex which only made sound on the left channel, and another one I forgot which had a bad cable that made a crackling noise). The first of these ones I bought made a lot of mechanical noise, and the second one did not work because the tape deck would spit it out two seconds after inserting it. I am not happy and cannot understand how such an old component (technology-wise) has not been perfected yet. Very frustrating.
I agree with all the reviews and love this product. That said: When you read reviews from iLounge, CNET and other sources for insightful reviews on cassette adapters you will find consistent testimony about the Phillips adapter. It goes something like this. It costs less. It is strong and durable. It sounds as good or better than all the others. It is at least half the price of the others. It will not produce annoying static like radio transmitter adapters. (I have a radio transmitter adapter and I agree with this last one). The Phillips Cassette Adapter is a refreshingly well priced performer and you will be greatly satisfied with it. I am.
