Philips SAA2051H - Car cassette adapter

I recently purchased an older model Honda wherein it has a single CD and cassette player. Research confirmed the excessive expense for a satellite radio, so I decided to invest in this product to play either my Apple iPod or iPad instead. It made no sense to invest in satellite service when I have hundreds of iTunes, and I am glad I explored this option for the quality is excellent. I was able to use it in less than thirty seconds flat. So instead of investing in an expensive product I would have to leave in the car, I now can use (current) mobile technology instead. :-)

I needed a new adapter because wire on old one (don't know brand, had it for 5 years) had short in it, only played left channel. I picked up this Philips to use for my car's cassette player. I put it in, started playing..but 30 sec. to 1 minute later the adapter popped out. I kept trying at least 5 more times, with same result. Next day, I took it back, exchanged, hoping it was just defective. New adapter played for 20 minutes, then the popping started occurring again, after 20sec. to 1 minute of play. Next morning, when car was cool, I tried again; adapter stayed in for about 15 minutes, then it popped out again. The display on radio kept saying 'err'. Instructions say the Philips adapter not recommended for AC/Delco car radios. Mine does not say what brand it is. I took 2nd unit back, got refund. Guess Philips & my car just don't get along. Will have to look for another brand.

I used both this and Scosche iPod Universal Cassette Adapter. In Scosche iPod Universal Cassette Adapter the sounds are more loud and digitally correct. But with this the sound quality is average.

Bought this cassette player. I expected it to work fine but when I put it in and played music, it distorted the music so much that it was irritating. We went and bought the more expensive Monster one and that one works GREAT! This Phillips one is the most horrible cassette adapter I have ever bought.
