Pipka World of Santas 14027 Belium Santa Figurine

Part of Pipka's "World of Santas" collection, this figurine was inspired by Belgium custom. A finely dressed St. Nicholas carries a freshly cut pine which is a central part of the holiday celebrations. He is accompanied by a donkey in honor of the animals that experienced the holy birth of Christ. St. Nicholas visits for the first time each year on the December 4th, so he can find out which children have been good and which children have been bad. If a child is good, he returns on December 6th with presents, candy, and toys. Twigs are left for those who are bad. He carries a freshly cut tree, which is decorated and becomes a central part of the holiday celebration. A donkey accompanies St. Nicholas this Christmas Eve, commemorating the blessed donkey who experienced the magic of the birth of the Christ Child many years ago in Bethlehem.
