Playtex Diaper Genie Twist-Away Pail System (Discontinued by Manufacturer)

I believe that everyone who has a baby should have one of these. I got one for my baby shower and I love it. It was easy to set up and its easy to use. Its kinda complicated to empty, but after a few times you catch on. I am actually buying two of my friends one. This is a gift that I wish I got more than one of!

I recieved this as a shower gift before my first child was born. While it does contain odors very well, it has a lot of other shortcomings. The refills are expensive, first of all. Not ideal for moms on a budget. It was also difficult for me to empty. The razor never cut it the first time so I often resorted to scissors, and the last "twist" always came undone. I haven't used it once with my second child and am about to sell it.

Two of my friends each gave me theirs. I keep one in the nursery, one in the family room. Like another reader said the first couple diapers just dropped to the bottom after twisting and when it's time to be dumped all the diapers just untwist and you have a lot of bag unused (the razor to cut the bag doesn't work at all) and knowing that it's almost $6 for a refill I just started using it like a garbage can or like the Diaper Genie II. I throw everything in there, diapers, paper, tags, receipts, etc. It doesn't smell until you open it but that's normal, "you know what" stinks. I just tie a knot from the bottom and push my arm down through the top. When it's filled I just pull the knot from the bottom and use scissors to cut. My little one will be 4 weeks soon and her diapers are small so it holds plenty of them. I empty it when it's full and on garbage day. It really saves and will last even longer without the twisting.

I am a first time mother and when I went to do some last minute shopping before my son arrived I saw this Daiper Genie and it was on sale so I figure that I would give it a try and I love it "NO MORE SMELLY DAIPERS" Buy it you will be pleased

I GOT THIS AS A GIFT! I WAS SO HAPPY TO HAVE SOMETHING TO KEEP THE SMELL OF DAIPERS OUT OF MY HOUSE, IT DIDN'T WORK! I DIDN'T EVEN HAVE TO HAVE ANY DIAPERS IN IT AND I COULD SMELL IT! I TRIED CLEANING IT OUT WITH BLEACH AND EVEN LEAVING THE BLEACH IN OVER NIGHT AND I STILL STUNK LIKE POO! MOST OF MY FRIENDS THAT GOT IT WHEN THEIR KIDS WERE BABIES THREW THEM AWAY WITH IN A MONTH! I HAVE DONE THE SAME. BEWARE!! THEY DON'T WORK!
