PowerSmart,6 Tons Electric Push Start Indoor or Outdoor Log Splitter, PS90

Came without a manual. No link to online manual on Walmart site. Extended treasure hunt finally found one online. Oops - manual says to keep the box for returns, But, box barely adequate to get it here and beadboard packing pretty well pulverized. And, you have to cut the box to get it out anyway - it's heavy. Machine split wood ok for a bit, but then collapsed and quit as soon as the log hit the wedge. Searched online for manual. Found manual. Manual says, "open the bleed valve before splitting or you will permanently damage the hydraulic seals" OK, if PERMANENT DAMAGE, why wasn't that mentioned in one of the many decals, most covering "no duh" things like "don't put your fingers in the mechanism while operating" ? Probably breakage will sell more replacements that way? Search web for manual, find the semi-hidden bleed valve, open it and run the pusher back and forth a few times. Then, it resumed splitting with no problems. Seems undamaged.

Product stopped working after 1 month. Tried numerous times to contact by phone and email for 6 months and was never contacted. Tried to talk to Walmart and they told me I had to contact manufacturer. I can't get any help or support. Just in case some one reads this and wants to help me the order number is 2000104-21948172

I received the 1st log splitter and it was damaged and unusable. I returned it and ordered a 2nd one and when I opened the pkg and inspected the item; it was damaged. tried to contact the company via Email and phone. no reply on e mail; and I got to listen to one hour of music. this company is a fly by night Company!

sturdy construction, that's the extent of its virtues. box was a little banged up and there was a big oil spot on one end, but otherwise no apparent damage. set-up was simple: added wheels, checked the hydraulic fluid level, opened the hydraulic breather valve and plugged into a dedicated 20A circuit. followed the operating instructions: press the power button and engage the ram lever; motor spins, ram moves, but it doesn't develop enough force to split anything bigger than a 1" piece of dried kindling. I tried all sizes of timber but it split virtually nothing bigger than my already-small kindling. thank goodness for Wal*Mart's super-easy return processes.

Worked great the first time i used it. Took it out the next day and it would not exert any pressure. I tried all of the suggested trouble shooting to no avail. Return back to Walmart was simple. Bought online returned to store no problem. Powersmart customer service deaprtment was easily accessible and very cooperative. Celeste and Edgar are great Customer Service reps at Powersmart.
