Buy this as it's a steal. No reason to purchase an electric cooker. Easy to use and good quality. Every cook should have one.
I have been unable to assemble the product to date because there were a couple of screws that were too small. Otherwise, I am very happy with my purchase.
Being from India and a vegetarian, having a pressure cooker is a must in every Indian home because we eat a lot of lentils and beans for which a pressure cooker is really necessary for our daily cooking. I have used pressure cookers all my life. Pressure cookers are supposed to last a long time- many years actually. I got this Presto 6 quart in June 2019 and it is already unusable. When it arrived, the handle had to be assembled which didn't seem a big deal except it never attached properly and needed to be tightened constantly. Anyway just in a few months, its valve came off at some point and the steel quality is so poor that food keeps sticking to the base and burning. The aluminum cooker that I had before this and gave away, unfortunately, thinking that cooking in a steel cooker would be healthier, was very strong and was going strong for years. Total waste of money. I have to start my search again for a better quality product. Do not recommend this product at all!
I love this pressure cooker. I have the larger aluminum one for canning but I wanted a smaller stainless steel to use for everyday cooking. I was able to get rid of 2 other stock pots that I had. I also purchased the clear lid and the steamer basket. Although a steamer basket you purchase at walmart would have been just as good. I have used it for stew, pressure cooking chicken which I love, it is so fast. I pressured cooked the chicken then made Jambalaya all in the same pot. Beans are so fast to cook and they are perfect not mushy. I first bought the 4 quart but returned it and purchased the 6 quart I think it is a much better size for everyday cooking in the kitchen.
Really like how this six-quart pressure cooker cooks. Easy to use and clean, cooks dry beans just like the old Presto. Tips: 1. Avoid lifting the pot (empty or full) with only one hand on long handle; always use one hand on long handle and one hand on short handle to avoid wear/tear on flimsy screws. 2. Avoid lifting the top with the long handle; always use the lid itself due to flimsy screws. Also, I tossed out the cheap aluminum cooking rack and instead use the stainless steel one from the old Presto. I gave it a "3.5" due to the screws, which get loose and are rusting after one month. Really now...a very nice product but with poor quality screws and cooking rack.
