Audio-Technica AT-LP1240-USB - Turntable

*Update from my last review I've had this amazing machine for just over a month now and have noticed quite a few fine scratches on the dust cover and on the top part of the turntable. It's made of shiny black metal and though I've only been using very soft microfibre cloths to dust it, it seems to be showing a number of fine scratches/abrasions (which is a shame as it's such a beautiful TT). I'm wondering if there is a solution for this and am hoping I can remove or at least minimize the eye sores?

One of the best built turntables on the market today! I installed a Shure M97xE cartridge on this beauty and can't believe how nice it sounds! Don't get me wrong, Audio-Technica makes some of the best cartridges out there, I just decided to put a Shure on. All the features of this turntable are geared toward the DJ market but will perform just as well in the audiophile market. Very easy to set up and use but be prepared to manually move the tone arm onto and off the record as this table is fully manual, the auto tables are more of a toy in my opinion. The 1240 employs a very high torque drive motor as it starts and stops on a dime! To sum up, the AT-LP1240USB is extremely well made, awesome looking, and will probably be the last turntable you'll ever buy. Well done Audio-Technica!

I have had these turntables for about 4 years now and they are just as good as they were when I first purchased them. Some of the best craftsmanship I have seen on a turntable. There is nothing I see to complain about. It is just a great turntable and nice on the eyes !!!

The overall quality and performance is very good. The only issue is the internal pre-amp. I would like to see a version with out the pre-amp. Other than that, a heavier counter weight would help with larger cartridges.

Pros: Great design and good brand. Cons: It doesn`t come with shell and Cartridge, which is difficult to find. specially out side US. The Audio Technica simply model comes with everything. It should have a clear message. It does not comes with shell. Wants to buy now?
