Mazuri Tortoise Diet, 25 lb

A good product for tortoises that like it. However it needs to be sold in bags 1/3 to 1/2 as big as it takes over a year and extra space storing the huge bags it comes in before it is used up. Also the cost is higher than it can be bought on other sellers sites.

Our red-footed tortoise really enjoys these pellets. They make an excellent base for her biweekly big feeding. We soak them in a bit of water to soften them slightly. They can also be soaked with more water to turn them into a paste and mix in extra vitamins or diced food they might ignore otherwise. At my previous zoo we would mash in medication then stuff the mash into a highly desirable food or wrap it in lettuce like a burrito. There is often some leftover dust in the bag but not an excessive amount, and it can be mixed with water to make mash and eliminate waste.

Trevor, the adult Sulcata Tortoise we are feeding, is enjoying his second bag of Mazuri Tortoise Diet. Each morning he gets some fresh greens, a scoop of Mazuri Tortoise Diet, some alfalfa hay (dry, from a bale), a small scoop of pelleted goat/horse feed, and a huge yard of bermuda grass to graze. He also has a shallow container of water he drinks from occasionally. He goes for the greens first, then the Mazuri Tortoise Diet. He likes the size of the Mazuri feed because he is a large tortoise. The feed can be soaked if you are feeding a smaller tortoise.

This was recommended by the local reptile store, our Tortoise has thrived on this food. When we took our Tortoise to the vet, she commented on how great his shell looked and how healthy he is. I truly believe it is his diet, whixh includes Mazuri Tortoise Diet.

I feed Mazuri Tortoise Diet to my Africa Sulcata Tortoise with her veggies to give her the nutrients she needs that she doesn't receive being a pet. I have a three year old tortoise and she is about the size of a bowling ball and eats about 10 pellets every few days. I soak them in water first to make them soft for her. She gobbles it up within minutes, she loves it. She will come out of home to eat it if she seems me with her dish. I love her little messy face afterwards too, it is so cute. I definitely recommend Mazuri.
