Just received the bonus mike for buying my new receiver / amplifier system. the PDMK1 is a surprisingly great mike. It sounds awesome and I will be using this in my home studio as a starter mike. Very happy with Pyle products. I will be shopping again soon.
I got it for a Halloween prop but finally got a chance to use it at karaoke last night, I gave it 3 stars because the sound was very good but the volume had to be turned all the way up on the mixing board to hear it. Also, it only works if you sing into the very bottom of it, no other spots work on it.
We needed an "old" looking microphone for a radio play, and these were perfect. Comparable mics were over $100. We could also get antiques, but no guarantee that they would function. The body of this mic is, sadly plastic, the XLR connection on the bottom is too close to the threaded stand connection (making it not work with some mic stands, and their not very sensitive, but I still give them 4 stars since they look great and they work for the price.
If you are looking for a vocal microphone, scroll past this one. If you think this thing will make you sound like Michael Jackson or Freddie Mercury...keep dreaming...Sure it does record, you can use it with a P.A. but it looks BETTER as a prop. That's exactly what I did with it. Cool looking prop at that too!
If this thing gets a signal it is worth $24! Yea, it's plastic, but the black one looks awesome! Plus it comes with a cable.Edit: I attached this to my mic stand, connected it to my behringer keyboard amp/practice pa and it sounds as good as any other mic I've used(including Shure, nady, Samson). The black looks really cool. I'm no snob about brand name or workmanship...I care that it looks cool and sounds good. This mic does both. I even like that it is plastic because there is less chance for interference.
