I currently own one of these brush units and recently have issues with my brush head staying attached while in use, no matter how light the pressure. Bummer because I really loved it for the first year+ that I had it. Going to try a new unit to see if mine just wore out or something...
This toothbrush is designed differently than the one I had prior - there is a long white cartridge permanently attached to the brush (I am assuming it contains the motor and battery and I'll get a new one every 3 months instead of just a brush head??) and it doesn't fit well into the metal base. As I'm brushing, the base slides off, and when I return the toothbrush to the holder after I'm done brushing, water drips down the brush and collects in the metal base. I wanted a different color brush (had the copper metal base before) but didn't realize I would be getting a whole new system. I'm not in love with how this one is, and wish that I had stayed with my previous brush.
Prior to my purchase of this toothbrush, I'd tried one called "Gum Expert" that claimed a 3x reduction in gum bleeding. I don't experience gum bleeding since I'm pretty diligent with my brushing and flossing, but I am concerned about my gums because of recession caused by my jaw clenching problem. That "gum expert" toothbrush cut my gums up in multiple places over a course of just two weeks. I couldn't believe it. I switched to quip for an affordable electric alternative and I'm glad I did! It's a comfortable brush with bristles that don't feel hard or inflexible, so I'm back to having happy gums and my teeth feel smooth and plaque-free. My dental hygienist said to keep doing what I'm doing, so I'll continue using quip!
I really like the sonic toothbrush. It's intended to be a replacement for my 3 or 4 year old previous one. The only thing wrong with the old one is the on/off working part is very hard to remove to replace the battery. Once the battery goes, it will go.
After about 5 years of daily use my original plastic quip broke, not the motor, just the plastic body where the head snaps on. I am so happy with the results of my semi annual dental checkups that I ordered 2 more one for my wife and one for me. The new aluminum toothbrushes are vey sturdy and are still flawlessly designed. Thanks for a great product.
