Rave 16-Piece Dinnerware Set, Blue

I've had some Corelle dishes for years. They were black and octogonal and very hard to clean. I am very happy with these new round dishes. They are heavy duty and I like the color on the front and even on the back. I have to be a bit more careful, because I am afraid of chipping-but for the price, I think they're very nice and sturdy.

My image shows the new plate on the left and my old plate on the right. I loved these dishes when I got some in ~2007 and I was so excited when they came back out. These look nothing like my old ones. These look incredibly cheap. They are a very pale blue. They don't have the stonewear look of my old ones and what's shown in the site photos. I am so disappointed. In general, my old dishes did seem to crack/chip rather easily even when always handwashing.

This set is well worth the money. Very durable. Ceramic or, stoneware like. Stands up to dishwashers, microwave and, children. Just one tiny thing of no big deal. In the picture the color looks blue green and it is more of a blue gray. Still nice and well worth it. Just wanted more blue. Would buy again.

Originally I purchased this 4-place setting and within a week I purchased another. I was pleased in every way. Unfortunately, I broke some of the dishes. Not to worry - I'll just stop in and get some replacements. NOT SO! This was at the time (Summer 2008) that Walmart was restructuring/remodeling their stores and I could not find Sets or replacement pieces in blue - only UGLY GREEN. So I went to WalMart.com and found the Rave blue sets listed BUT only in limited stores -NONE OF WHICH WERE IN ARKANSAS. Funny, I had seen the blue sets in every store I had visited - NO MORE. I even tried on my trip to Philadelphia and central/western New York. NOPE! The website shows the Rave green sets as NOT AVAILABLE IN STORES. Funny again, because I found them in EVERY STORE that I visited. Phooey. Upon my return from my trip, I pursued the purchase - even contacting WM HQs. They put me in contact with customer service and THEY could not find them except I could order the sets on the website. So, I did just that and the set arrived from South Carolina (!!!) in a few days. They matched the ones I have perfectly and now I have a few spares. These are really nice - tough, dishwasher safe, and all the other descriptive adjectives. They go really well with my different tablewares and with the Mexican hand blown LARGE tumblers and desert sherbets (multi-colored) that I have. Easy to wash by hand too. The bowls are VERY large, as are the cups. Note: There are no saucers in the set. I vote YES for these dishes! Will

heh heh, yeah, they're actually a little warped but hey, they were cheap and they still look great. You can definitely tell they were cranked out in a hurry. Like other reviewers have said, you don't really notice until you stack them up in the cabinet. But when you set them on the table individually, it's not that noticeable at all. But the good is this, the plates are nice and big and they have a fairly high rim so juices don't spill over the side. The bowls are awesome, they hold over 3 measuring cups of whatever. Perfect for cereal or chili. The coffee cups are great, they hold 2 measuring cups of liquid and have very comfortable ergonomically designed handles. Oh, and did I mention this dinnerware set looks really cool?! The coolness factor distracts from any technical imperfections. So, I highly recommend them if you're on a budget.
