Red heart yarn is a go to for projects that need a certain stiffness and durability Andi's very affordable. However, the color I. The picture dos not match what I received. The picture appears to be a standard red while the Hot Red is very bright with a touch or orange. Something to be aware of when purchasing.
It says the color is baby pink but in the picture it looked a lot lighter than it actually is. I was trying to match (except for lot number) a yarn I have that I bought from WalMart but apparently they no longer carry it even with a different name. Looked the same in the picture though. Disappointed.
The quality of this yarn is nothing fancy. Just typical yarn, as far as that goes, and there's less of it than the single color options, but this is soooooo pretty! I bought it to make a little sweater for my tiny, 6lb short-haired pup (unknown breed, as she was rescued by a friend of mine who found her wandering alone in a car part scrap yard. She wasn't quite 3lbs at the time!). Ease of Use: I'm a novice at crochet, but I've found this yarn easy to work with... which is good, because she's growing fast, so I've had to take it apart and start from scratch, to make it more size-adjustable. I've made some mistakes in my yarn-buying adventures, and had bought an off-brand at one point that would literally tie itself in knots as I tried to go along. Not so with this stuff (or with the Walmart brand, jfyi), so hooray! Softness: Not as soft as some fancier yarns, but it's not scratchy, and feels fine against the skin. The weight of the overall product was a detail I'd missed when I purchased it, but at $3.77 for such lovely colors, I'm good with that, and wish I'd bought 2! My only complaint isn't so much with the yarn, itself, but how it was packaged to get here. It arrove, all by its lonely, in an 18"x13", 8" high box! Um... why? Granted, my pup's had a blast playing with the box, and things like that always get repurposed around here, AND it's just right for a specific project I have in mind (so long as it survives the pup 'till I get around to said project haha), but that's not so for most people. My only guess is they were out of smaller boxes at the warehouse when they sent it.
Red Heart Super Saver yarn is my go to for most things. It is a bit rough when working with it, but once washed with softener and dried on low heat it becomes much softer. I use it for amigurumi, scarves, hats, sweaters, blankets, just about everything. My only issue is that if left in the sun it discolors fairly quickly. I made amigurumi cardinals, our school mascot, for my car and it faded from red to orange in a little under a year.
I had an order for a Christmas Stocking, and withing in the first 15 minutes, i had TWO knots, tying two ends of yarn together. (I wonder how many more knots i will find while crocheting?) I shouldnt have to stop my crocheting and take time to cut off the yarn knot and start with a new strand of yarn.
