JUNK! Bought one, believed I was fixing to be insulin dependent. No oral medication or diet or exercise changed readings. My wife woke up one morning and was dizzy, checked her glucose read 147. Luckily lab work proved she had no problems. I woke one morning to a reading of 303, never had a fasting reading anywhere near this, took medication, 1 hour later reading was 156. Then I ate a small bowl of oats, 2hrs. later reading was back up to 332! Went to Walmart that afternoon and purchased another one. Did a test at the same time, old one read 226, new one read 156. Been using the new one for a week, this morning the internal clock was 2hrs. behind. Wish some one had told me this is junk!
I usually don't write reviews. However, I did it this time hoping that it can be of help. I am starting with monitoring. I have been doing so for the last two weeks. It is somewhat confusing what test equipment to buy. But my doctor gave me the best advise I think that he could give me: "Consider the monitor as a printer (when buying cartridges) ....consider how much the test strips costs, etc." I have found that his is great value, strips and lancets are not that expensive. I do not reuse the lancets. From my analysis, this monitor system was, overall, the least expensive. Hope that this is of help.
WOW! The ReliOn Micro worked so much better than the ReliOn Ultima that uses a 0.6 microliter sample size compared to the ReliOn Micro with a .03 microliter sample. Sometimes I had to lance his little ear more than once to get a large enough blood sample. I felt so bad for him, and he would just take it. But with this ReliOn Micro meter one time is all it takes because the sample size is so small. I know my furbaby likes it better, and I feel better too knowing it is over quicker with WAY LESS stress on the poor guy. He has enough to deal with without his person poking at him. I had the ReliOn Ultima calibrated with the Veterinarians Glucose equipment and it was found to be within acceptable parameters to do home testing reliably. I checked the Relion Micro against the ReliOn Ultima and they were within 17 points of each other. Good enough to keep my eye on his glucose levels to spot any problems early. If you are considering home testing of your diabetic feline, you really should consider the ReliOn Micro. Very easy to use for you and your companion. I would think it would work equally as well on a canine too, but have no experience with it in that role. I did alot of research before deciding on this brand of meter, and my choice was confirmed when my feline started to go into remission. If I did not catch it when I did he could have died from too much insulin. I continue to trust the ReliOn brand to monitor his progress.
I've only had it a short time, but am very pleased with it. When I compared the reading to one done at the lab the same day, the results were within a couple points of each other. One of the medical personnel I know bought the same model for her father, and they were pleased with it as well.
I wish some body could write a review before I get on that trap. Two weeks ago, I bought a : Reli on: glucose meter and every time I checked my blood sugar I get a high reading on it while I took all my medications regularly. I could not understand until I get an other meter" ONE TOUCH" to check my blood glucose and finally right So now I take time to check it with both meters. When I get it on the " One Touch" it is 177 but at the same time I check it with the "Reli on machine" and I get that reading: 462. what kind of machine is that? I remember the guy that sold me that at the Walmart Rx told me it is not refundable. I would never suggest people to buy this machine because it is not accurate, It is not reli on. The Company should give it an other name
