I was very happy to find a machine with test strips so inexpensive. The monitors prices aren't a big deal to me because it's a one time expensive so I have to go by the expense of the test strips. We had two other of the ReliOn devices, the originals that came out and it worked just fine for a while. Then one day we started getting results that varied from approximately the 50's then 15 minutes later all the way to the 200's and every 10 minutes or so it would continue to go up by like 20 points. So I got my husband a new on, well actually it wasn't new, it was one I had for myself but I seldom used it so l let him use mine but got the same results so I decided it must have been the test strips. (BTW, these were not in that recall group) So when I go to the store I see they have the new Ultima and I thought that would be better. We've had it a couple of months and have had the same problem a time or two and at first I thought maybe it was because he wasn't using the alcohol wipes on his fingers first so he did that. Then he has waking up first thing in the am the last couple of days fasting and his level was around 160. Today he took it when he got up and it was like 167 and then 1.5 hours later took it again, still nothing to eat and only drinking water and it showed 30. (he didn't feel like it was low so I know that wasn't accurate) So he tried another finger and it was 35. Then a few minutes later tried another finger and it was 157. This is just ridiculous and I definitely do not feel comfortable using it for reliability. Unfortunately I think I will have to resort to one that is more expensive hoping that more money means better quality. ?!?! Not too sure about that but I don't have any other choice. Three machines is just enough of one brand to try for me.

Well as far as I know I am not a diabetic. I bought this yesterday to test where my blood sugar is to see if some minor symptoms could possibly be diabetes. I read the manual. And also the company website. I also bought the 20 pc test strips that goes along with this meter. I calibrated it according to instruction manual with a lot number. And decided to test myself. First result 42. Couple minutes later tried again 100. Ate a meal and waited two hours and did a test. 52, a minute later 61. Too me those are way off numbers and is inaccurate. If my blood sugar was really that low I would be ill or having some serious symptoms. I do not trust this meter and have put it away not to be used again.

Tested this against my one touch four different times from the same test site at the same time, and I got results that were at least 15% off my One Touch meter readings. By-the-way, I've run a similar test with my One Touch against my Dr's lab and the results were within 2%. I wanted something that costs less, but unfortunately, the ReliOn Ultima Blood Glucose Monitor isn't worth two cents.

I purchased this meter because the strips were a lot cheaper than the others. My readings are all over the place ranging from 90-233. One test I took back to back to back gaave me 174, 134, 154 within 3 minutes. It is a very easy to use and nice meter, but if it isn't accurate it is worthless.

I've been using Reli-on for 2 years now. I previously was using Accucheck Active. Because we're on a limited income, I couldn't afford the accucheck Strips when i ran out at times not at 30-40.00 a pop. I looked around and came across this one and its affordable, the strips are afforadable and it gives me accurate readings. I have to test 3xs a day and I'm diabetic Type II , diet controlled only. I've been diabetic since 2001. I recommend this product.
