GE SmartWater MWFP Replacement Refrigerator Water Filter

Yeah this filter costs more than most all of the others. There's a reason for that obviously, it filters out more things you shouldn't be consuming. We even use it for the water we boil pasta and other things in as well. There's a demonstrable difference in taste and clarity of the water. Highly recommend.

My new GE refrigerator takes this kind of water filter cartridge. Just follow the instructions that came with your refrigerator and you will have no problem installing. Because I am short (5'3"), I have to get up on a step ladder to reach back into the large refrigerator to change the filter. A little awkward for me, but I get it installed. Recommend this product, and particularly, recommend purchasing at Walmart.

I have ordered and received same week similar product from different seller for same delivered price. Packaging from Walmart was not good. Product came in individual boxes. Boxes were torn, crumpled and in one case, shrink wrap was open. Looks like product with damaged box is can not be put on store shelf for sale. I cannot comment on integrity of the product. Seals for water inlets seems to be intact.

Generic filters seem to be problematical - reviews seem to be too negative. GE filters are fine but seriously over priced. I buy them only because I don't want to risk damage to the frig. Put another way - there isn't much of a valid option other than the GE filter.

I came here after getting burned by a third party seller on Amazon. Products turned out to be fake and out of return window. Walmart had slightly better prices than Home Depot so I gave it a try. It works perfectly, ran about 2 gallons through just to be safe, I will be buying the genuine filters direct from Walmart from now on.
