Great purchase!! I upgraded from a Brother Project Runway machine. I am over the moon. I was hesitant to buy refurbished, but it looks just a new one from Walmart at a fraction of the cost! You will not be disappointed!
I love love love this machine. It does everything I need and replaced a 35 year old machine that just did not have the features I wanted. 5+ star rating###
I have been using a Kenmore machine that I bought 45 years ago and it is still going strong but decided to take a chance on a computerized machine. Wow what a difference. This machine came with everything that the box described. I watched the video and read the book and was sewing in no time. It is quiet and does all that it said it would. I haven't tried all of the feet yet or made a button hole but over all I am very pleased. I was a little worried about buying a refurbished machine but it was packaged as if it had come from the factory. It looks brand new. I love how light weight it is, my Kenmore is 30 lbs.
Our refurbished Brother sewing machine is working very well. It makes lots of stitches and you can input characters to stitch names, phrases. It says it is good for quilting, and comes with a twin needle, button hole, and many other accessories. The artful stitches are done very well by the computerized movements. It winds the bobbin nicely, slowing down when it is done. The computer warns you if you try to something incorrect, such as select a buttonhole stitch, when the button hole attachments are not in place. When I first got the sewing machine, it would not thread the needle. I had to gently bend the little barb, to line it up with the needle hole. Originally it was hitting the side, and not going thru the needle hole. The thread guide right above the needle seemed a little awkward to get it threaded, with my large fingers. The bobbin area is fully functional, I would grade it utilitarian. Compared to my grandmothers machine from the seventies, she had some fancy high quality all metal features by comparison to the metal/plastic combo on the brother. But again, the Brother is fully functional.
I bought this refurbished machine a few months ago for taking to sewing classes & a quilting group. I thought it would break down before the return dateline, but it works wonderfully without any problems at all! It looks like a new machine when I took it out of the box with the plastic wrappers and styrofoam blocks to protect the machine. My sewing teacher (a Bernina snob) asked whether I paid $300 for it because it looks so good & new. Anyway, I paid $89.99, which is the rollback price at the time I bought it. Best portable machine I ever bought!
