This is my first flit iron and first time using one. I have a new hair style and need something to straighten the very front of my hair so I was looking for a flat iron that would work very well without the cost. When I started using it hair kept falling out from between the plates. OK so there must be a learning curve. After a few more tries not much luck. I finally noticed that the plates don't touch all the way across causing part of my hair to fall out from the iron. This also gives me fly away hair which I've never have had before. Going to try to return it.

I realize that by picking one of the cheapest straighteners I could find, you generally get what you pay for. I had a very similar one, same brand even, previously that lasted several years without breaking and was seeking to replace it. However, this one makes me so mad because it pulls my hair! Perhaps I just got a defective one, but there is a slight gap between the heat pads and the plastic edging just big enough to catch one or two strands of hair as you slide and pull them badly. Even a cheap straightener seems like it should be better designed than that! I finally figured out that by flipping it over and using it "upside down" it pulls less often, but it is still frustrating!

This works good enough for what I need. Considering the cost of the product, it works great.

I don't have much hair, and it is pretty thin. Until now I have never come across a straightener that did nothing but burn my hair. I have shoulder length hair and flip it out. My last straightener was just a mini and it worked. This full size straightener will not flip out my hair. At this point a blowdryer and round brush has been working better than this piece of junk that is supposedly called a straightened. It should be called a style-less hair burner.
