After performing in a radio at Madison Square Garden, cowboy Jeff Larrabee (Bing Crosby) is heading back West with his prize bull, Cuddles, when his tranquility is shattered. There's a runaway in his boxcar: pretty New York heiress Doris Halliday (Frances Farmer). Doris is fed up with the big city and hankering for romance and the great outdoors. But Jeff's a hard-to-win kind of guy. He'd rather croon to Cuddles. So this is going to be one rough trip for them both! Here's a film that swings its way along, loaded with humor and great songs. It has a lot of first. One is the start it gave to Johnny Mercer, whose "I'm an Old Cowhand" became a hit. Another is a yet unknown Roy Rogers, strumming a guitar in the band. But, most important, is its introduction to the screen of Martha Raye and Bob Burns, two comedians who delighted instantly. Crosby had always wanted to do a Western musical.
