Richell Deluxe Freestanding Wooden Pet Gate with Door, Expands to 902" Wide

This gate looks nice and serves its purpose. It's taller than most gates so prevents my dogs from jumping it. Te adjustable length was very useful and allowed it to fit perfectly in a large opening between two rooms. The only negative is the the legs stick far out and sometimes are a trip hazard, but necessary to keep the gate sending. I like the it is free standing and doesn't have to attach to the wall. It's not overly strong, so if you have a big dog that tries to push it over it will likely succeed. I have 50 pound labs that stay put behind it.

I am SO HAPPY I found this gate. My dog loves to pee on the carpet in my apartment despite my best efforts to house train her, so I've taken to keeping her in the carpet-free kitchen/dining room area while I'm away at work. However, the opening between this area and my living room is fairly large (around 80"+ inches), and I was having trouble finding a freestanding gate that was both wide enough to cover the opening and strong enough to keep from getting knocked over. I needed something freestanding, as I rent and can't be drilling holes in the walls. I had tried various gates, but my dog was smart enough to figure out ways to break through or jump over each one. Eventually, I had resorted to constructing an elaborate makeshift barrier composed of rolling desk drawer units, an expandable toddler gate, cardboard boxes, dumbbell weight plates and rubber bands to keep everything in place. It worked, but it looked horrible and was a serious hassle to dismantle and set-up again each day. Found this Richell gate on the Walmart site for around $50 less than it sells for on Amazon and decided to give it a chance. So glad I did!!! Number one, the gate looks beautiful. Number two, the quality is great - firm and well-constructed, it looks like it'll last a long time. Number three, it WORKS! The overall design/shape of the gate and "feet" on each end effectively keep my dog from knocking the thing over, and it is high enough that my dog is unable to jump over it. Number four, it's convenient. The door makes it so easy for me to pass through and let my dog go back and forth as needed. The door itself has to be lifted in order to swing it open, so no worries that my dog will somehow be able to open it on her own. Overall, I'm incredibly pleased with my purchase, and only wish I had found out about this gate sooner. Thank you Richell!!! P.S. It's super easy to put together as well. All you need is a screwdriver and about 20 minutes.

This gate is sturdy and perfect to block our wide staircase. It's open at one stair on one side so the wrap around helps close the gap.

It meets our wide entry needs perfectly and looks like part of the living room decor.

After 3 months the gate has held up pretty well. A small piece of laminate did peel off the first, but other than that no issues.
