Not at all what I thought I was getting. These blinds are basically the same as mini blinds, but just 2" wide. They were difficult to install, with vague instructions. Poor quality. But they were much cheaper than the others, so I guess you get what you pay for.
These are the easiest to install of any blinds I have put in--and I have recently installed a good number of them! The blinds simply "click" into the brackets and the brackets do not absolutely have to be at the exact END of the blind (so long as they don't interfere with pull cords). This reduces the agony involved in spacing the brackets "just right." The wood grain looks very nice, too. The only pain is that the brackets are packaged inside a recess in the blind's top; you can spend a good deal of time just trying to get them out of there. I can see that this style of packaging was done to reduce space, but it's a bit of a headache. Overall, however, these are wonderful blinds at a very decent price.
We ordered these blinds as the house we just purchased did not have any. For the money, they are excellent. They are not like the flat, thicker faux wood 2" blinds that you may have seen - they are like standard 1" blinds, but larger. The overall effect is esthetically pleasing. We read the other reviews prior to ordering them so we did not expect them to fully darken the rooms. The product name is very misleading. However they are wonderful for design and privacy and we have curtains in addition so the darkening aspect is not an issue. We would recommend these to someone looking to purchase on a budget.
The don't even look like wood. They look like butterscotch colored plastic...cheap butterscotch colored plastic. I pulled one out of the box and it wouldn't even release. I didn't bother opening the other three that I bought. I returned them to the store the next day.
Mounting hardware is just two metal brackets, which are difficult to remove from blinds where they are stored while shipping. Brackets are difficult to align perfectly to get the blinds set properly...I have 4 of the 6 sets of blinds improperly mounted, but working enough to where I (hope) they won't fall out of the window sill. The blinds "click" into one side, but don't click safely into the other bracket. Looks somewhat crooked, but I got tired of trying to do it over & over, drilling all these holes to re-mount the pathetic brackets. Blinds were "wood pattern" but NOT faux-wood. The thick material used to have the wood appearance is not used; it is simply 2" wide plastic pieces just like the normal generic mini-blinds for sale at the store. Maybe I didn't read the description properly, but I thought I was getting the thick faux-wood blinds. The rod in the blinds is plastic, I'm not sure if that's durable or not- even the cheapest plastic mini blinds at WalMart come with a metal rod for the operating mechanism... The blinds look good really because they are replacing yellowed, dingy and broken blinds. Otherwise I'd be more upset. I am pretty irate for the fact that I could have spent a few extra dollars and bought the actual faux-wood blinds; just thought I was saving some cash buying these. Would not buy from this company again.
