I used to sell plumbing and one misconception that owners always had was that this was instant hot water and endless hot water. That is not the case. To be instant, you'd need a recirculation pump to keep water flowing through your pipes. Obviously this causes your heater to work more to continue pumping hot water through the lines. It also is not endless. You must look at the flow curve for the size heater you are purchasing. It will vary by area based on the incoming water temp.
