If this is intalled at one end of your house, expect to wait a long time for hot water to get to the other side of the house! Make sure that the technician customizes the flow rate to the lowest possible to get the heater to come on! You should also talk about designing your plumbing system in a new home with a recirculating pump to get instant hot water at each location in the home.
We have had it 6 months and have had no issues at all with the device or lack of hotwater. It has handled 3 showers running at once with no temp or flow issues ( we are in North Florida) Ours replaced 2 tanks, a 40 and a 50 gal which freed up a good amount of space inside our garage.
Now that the initial getting used to the new water heater ( we've had it 4 months) its even better than we first thought. Endless supply of hot water. Even during a power outage, plugged into the power inverter in my truck and instantly had hot water.
This product has proven, so far, to be a superior, high quality and energy efficient solution for our family. This was a replacement for a conventional tank water heater that had seen better days. Our tankless has worked flawlessly and what we like best is the bath controller. With this option, we can select the bathwater temperature and the volume to be delivered and the heater provides this to our bathtub. Wife loves this feature. All and all, we would select this tankless heater again if any future need arises.
I used to sell plumbing and one misconception that owners always had was that this was instant hot water and endless hot water. That is not the case. To be instant, you'd need a recirculation pump to keep water flowing through your pipes. Obviously this causes your heater to work more to continue pumping hot water through the lines. It also is not endless. You must look at the flow curve for the size heater you are purchasing. It will vary by area based on the incoming water temp. The curve tells you that your heater can produce "X" gallons per minute of hot water based on the amount of temperature rise. I'm not looking at a flow chart right now so this is merely an example. If your incoming water is 60 degrees F, and you wanted the water coming out of your shower to be 100 degrees F; you would need to look at your flow chart to see how many GPM's could be produced at a 40 degree temperature rise. Also, realize, there is a max GPM that your unit can put out in hot water. You
