Ever since I brought my Neapolitan home as a puppy I have fed her Royal Canin, and I have to say, the formulas are the best I've found. The kibble size is spectacular for Neapolitans who have a lot of dewlap to work with. It makes it so easy for my girl to pick up and eat and she loves it! She is also a show dog and breeding dog and Royal Canin makes her look absolutely spectacular. I can only hope they make the giant starter available! If not, I'll use the maxi when my girl is bred.
We have 2 adult Great Danes, both 3 Years old. We started them off with a recommended large breed puppy food that was not Royal Canin, but they had so much stomach upset that we asked our vet what to do. The blood work and stool check showed no intestinal parasites, so the vet recommended that we look at the food that we were feeding. We went online and looked at the ingredients in many dog food brands and came across Bil Jac. We went with Bil Jac large breed puppy for a short time, but were not satisfied with the results. The Danes still had stomach upset and their coats were dull. Furthermore, the kibble was like rabbit food and hard for them to chew because of the size. We then looked at Royal Canin and saw that they have breed specific formulas and the contents were just what our vet recommended. So we began with the "Giant Breed Puppy" Formula. When our girl became pregnant we switched her over to the "HT 42d" Large Breed, which is for breeding females from the 1st day of heat to the 42nd day of gestation. We then switched her to "Starter Maxi Mother and Babydog" formula which is for Mother from the end of gestation until the end of lactation and puppies from 3 or 4 weeks to 8 weeks of age. Both mom and puppies loved this formula and did extremely well with it. Our veterinarian stated that they were the strongest and best looking puppies that he had seen. We kept mom and dad both on "Giant Breed Puppy" for 18 months as recommended by our vet. Following they both went on "Giant Junior" for another year and finally on to "Giant Breed Adult" We are so pleased with their weight, coat and stool formation. Neither have presented any health concerns and the vet stated that is due to good care and nutrition. So thank you Royal Canin for being a big part of good care for our babies.
I have a Neapolitan and have tried so many different foods. She was on another giant breed formula - but it gave her major gas. So, we switched her over to RC giant adult and it completely rectified her gas issues, and also helped her stool firm up. There are two ingredients in this food that alarm me because they are - possibly - linked to bloat. Because of that I changed her to a completely different "all sizes" dog food. Within a week she was having major diarrhea on herself in her kennel when she had been potty trained for nearly 4 months. She was even suddenly pooping herself in the house. Her stool was nothing but water and it was driving me crazy - and was causing my Neo distress. I had to change her back despite my fears. Within two days back on the food, and she is 98% better. Stool has firmed up. No more accidents - and most importantly - no more going on herself in her kennel. I am still extremely apprehensive about the two ingredients, but I can't deny this food works best for her.
I absolutely love this food! Finally a kibble size for giant dogs! My boys no longer inhale their food and with RC we know we are feeding the best to our boys! Thank you! I only wish the prescription diet my other giant needs would come in a larger kibble size :) [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
when i first get my puppy, its an saint bernard its only 2 months old. and breeder tell me that they feed them only Royal Canin and give me advice to keep your puppy healthy you should have to feed them Royal Canin at least 6 months. But now my dog is 1.5 years old and i still feed them Royal Canin and their health is faboulsy and they are maintained dog. I suggest everybody to feed them Royal Canin for their lovely small puppies. I also want to thank Royal Canin for giving us a great and wonderfull and healthy food to keep our babies healthy. also they have all ingretients which is required in large breed like calcium for joints or good oils for their skin. Thanks. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
