Our female Shichon (6 years old) was diagnosed with bladder crystals. Since going on to this food she is constipated, bloated, having very bad wind and is clearly in discomfort. Back to the vets for their next suggestion.... We have used Satiety and Weight Loss to keep her at a healthy weight and these have been ok but this Urinary SO dry food is making her really not herself at all. We tried the wet version - made her violently sick!
My dog Loretta had struvite crystals in her urine so her veterinarian prescribed Royal Canin Urinary S/O dry foods. I was worried that Loretta might not eat a prescription food due to past experiences with previous dogs turning up their noses at prescribed dog food. Luckily Loretta loves her Royal Canin food and tries to stick her head in her dog food bin at every meal! Bonus: every urinalysis since we switched to this food has been struvite crystal free! My dog desired weight is inbetween the weights given on the bag. She is also overweight, and I am trying to figure out how much to feed her to loose weight at a healthy way. It would be great if there were an interactive guide to give the dogs preferred weight and current weight, choose dry or can food, and have the result tell you how much per day to feed.
My dog is doing great on the food. Was on normal S/O but had pancreatitis so have now switched to moderate calorie. My only issue is that it only comes in 6.5kg bag here in Ireland and it’s very difficult to open. There’s apparently a seal but I end up cutting it open.
We had stones removed from our Shih Tzu when she was around a year old. She has been on the Canine Urinary Diet since. I am happy to report that we have had no addition stones or problems and our dog is now 13 years old. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
