My now 14 year-old Maine Coon mix developed chronic diarrhea and our vet put him on this (along with the canned version) and within a few days he was back to normal poops. I was worried that he might not like it, but they weren't kidding when they said that this us “highly palatable”. He was practically tearing at the bag when I opened the box. He likes the canned slices and treats, too, although I have been having trouble getting the treats lately.
Our new (to us) 5 year old cat began showing signs of constipation 5 months ago...and it became progressively worse. He was defecating once every 30 to 50 hours, and it was a lot....very hard and very dry. He would paw his litter box several times before doing so and cry out in pain when he did. We tried everything. First, we went through 5 or 6 over the counter remedies, then another 3 or 4 meds and/or prescription diets prescribed by our local vet with little success. I suspected mega colon, so we transported him down to ARISE Emergency and Specialty Veterinary Hospital down in Phoenix, to be seen by an Internal Medicine Specialist. After a physical examination, x rays, and an ultrasound, Dr. Carter recommended that we try your Gastrointestinal Biber Response Dry Cat Food Product. We noticed a huge improvement within 48 hours. It's now been 6 days since we took Buddy in to ARISE, and I am hugely relieved. We have cut down on the lactulose, and I believe he will no longer need it. The Cisapride he is on will remain for now, but we are hopeful that we can take him off that in the near future. We are SO thankful for this product.
I tried this high fiber food for my kitty when she came down with colitis. She has been eating it for 8 years with few incidents of returning symptoms. She’s probably getting in to the other cats food when those happen! I recommend that you try this before going to medications for your kitty. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
I bought this food a couple of months ago after my veterinarian recommended it after seeing a photo of my cats bowl movement. I have been fighting this issue with my Persian since a kitten and she is 13 years old today. I have tried a few different foods and been given metrodizole but still no luck until this food! This product has not only been life changing for my cat and for me but she even seems happier and healthier. I have not had any issues with her BM's since I have switched. I just wish I would have started this food a lot sooner!!! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
My six year old 23 pound cat has had constipation and blockage issues since reaching adulthood. After having to endure several trips to the vet and having to be admitted on several occasions for enemas and treatment in past years, he is finally having normal bowl movments thanks to this dry food. It’s been only 1 week since I started him on this diet so maybe more time will be needed to give a proper review but so far so good. I was giving him miralax with his wet food and pumpkin with his dry food but never seemed to get his digestive issues to improve enough until now. The miralax caused his stool to be very much like play dough in consistency and he struggled in the litter box all the time. Since starting him on this dry food I’ve noticed he drinks much more without my encouragement and his stool is ideal according to the stool chart at my vet. I still put a little canned pumpkin with his wet food that he has twice daily and leave dry food out all the time (watch out, my dog loves sneaking the dry cat food any chance she gets. Must taste appealing to dogs also?). I hope this review is helpful to anyone experiencing similar feline constipation issues with their pet and will follow up in a few weeks to review this dry food again with more long term information. Good luck with your pet.
