Let's start off with the positives; as my first ever dual QHD or UW screen experience, using this has been superb. The system controls and configurations has enough customisation to let me set it up the way I wanted to, the colours and features are great for the most part, and the screen design is of course brilliant. Now here are the negatives; unfortunately as others have said, the unit makes a strange flickering on the 2nd screen if you're using your graphics card to run something on the 1st. This isn't ultimately a huge deal-breaker but it can be distracting. The monitor is quite large and heavy so can be quite intrusive with space, but that's not a huge issue either. Now here ARE the deal-breakers; firstly, most times I turn the monitor on, it does something strange; it either disregards a 2nd screen and uses only 1 screen, or it uses only 1 screen but changes the resolution to 480p. If this was rare I would've said fine, but I've used it for months now and the chance of this happening is almost 50%, and I've tried changing cables or using a different PC so it's definitely the monitor. Factory resetting doesn't fix it either. The worst problem for me is the popping / clicking sounds that happen so frequently with this monitor, to the point where I just can't sleep at night. There's something called thermal expansion which happens frequently with all furniture, temperature changes cause furniture to contract or expand, and this sometimes makes an extremely subtle noise which you might notice if you concentrate, otherwise you'll well be unaware of it. Now, I don't know if it's because of the bad plastic back, the back being one single piece or something else, but whether the monitor is off / on / disconnected, it makes this popping noise ranging from every 15s to 2 minutes. I noticed it on the 2nd day but decided to give Samsung a chance and not bother returning an opened monitor for both our benefits, but I really should've returned it instantly because I missed my chance. I sent the monitor over for repair (and had to go through 3 weeks of working on a small tablet temporary screen) and once I got it back, same problem! I already suggested that I would've just been happy to return it and get 2 monitors as exchange from Samsung instead, which would've still made me lose a lot of money since 2 monitors would cost 2/3rds of what the CRG9 cost me, but even that wasn't an option. The only option available to me is to return it again for repair, but repair isn't actually repairing anything. So there you have it, I'm stuck with this monitor, disappointed with how I can't sleep, and how much money I wasted on a product that has these consistent issues, and unfortunately I'm not getting the REAL support I need for this.
Went from 2 34" wide monitors to this and boy do I wish I hadn't. You don't get any more room for organization, just a magnified area that is smaller than my two monitors as far as dispalying mutliple windows and apps. Easy Box Settings is a garbage app without enough options for grid layout. HDR makes text blurry and nearly unreadable. Recommended as a cheap 2 year old technology gaming monitor only.
Hi, I purchased this screen and since I turned it on it makes plastic noises constantly until it is fully warmed up, around 2h. After that noises stop a bit, you get the odd click. Firmware still needs some polish, the auto input detect does not work. If you turn off one computer the screen goes directly to standby without checking if other inputs are present. This means you have to turn it on again so it moves to the other input. PIP is good BUT it won't remember your input settings, every time you switch off the monitor, pip defaults to 1/hdmi 2/dp1. I have a setup that required 1/dp2 2/hdmi, and I have to change this every time!! The resolution is great and I use it for gaming and app development and is great for this.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Coming from a setup with three identical monitors in an arc, this single monolith of a panel was a nice refreshing change from all the bezels. Games that supported the ultrawide format looked awesome providing you have the power to push all those pixels. Among the other highlights is the bright HDR capabilities of the QLED back light, looking directly at the sun in some games gave an impressive need to squint that I've never experienced with a monitor before. The resolution and frame rate at this price is good to see too, usually this format is 1080p or 60Hz as a compromise. I found motion smooth part in thanks to the addition of Freesync which is now compatible with Nvidia GPUs right out of the box by simply ticking it in the control panel. The pendulum demo came up great and performance in game was great too where my GPU power fell short of the monitors native rate. Lastly one set of feet and a curve is a great space saver versus multiple displays. There are some downsides to being on the cutting edge as this monitor is. I did not get along with this display when it came to managing my programs. Samsung include some software to divvy up the screen into sections but it will only allow maximised windows and is all round rubbish. I bought and used Display Fusion but even that is not ideal, putting anything to full screen will do exactly what you don't want and vertical letterboxes the entire screen, Windows is just not ready for Super Ultrawide. The QLED feature brings great HDR but it works in one-inch vertical strips down the entire screen, your cursor is a dead giveaway on a black screen and honestly it can be as jarring as very bad backlight bleed. This monitor is ideal if you play a lot of games that benefit from the format, simulation games are perfect such as project cars 2, unprepared games like Subnautica just turn into a sub ocean stretched nightmare. If you lean more towards being power user that also plays games like me then I don't think this is for you, I for one decided on two separate monitors instead. Mega-Nerds that want that huge POV in crispy 2k with blinding HDR at 120fps, go for it.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I am extremely impressed with the Samsung fantastic ultra wide Samsung C49RG90 49-inch Super Ultrawide Curved Gaming Dual WQHD 1440p Monitor. I use this monitor with my 2016 MacBook Pro with just a HMDI connection. The display is so clear with fantastic visual display, furthermore I am impressed that the screen does not get hot and has a very reliable display throughout. I also love the dark chrome finish which makes this feel like a real premium product which is sturdy. I am able to open multiple screens and multitasks as well as play high quality games with amazing graphics and quick response times. The set-up is very easy and it comes with brilliant packaging and protection, just be aware of how large the screen is.
