Samsung - T7 Touch 500GB External USB 3.2 Gen 2 Portable SSD with Hardware Encryption - Black

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Out of the box I like that this hard drive came with both a USB A to USB C cable and a USB C to USB C cable so I can easily use it with my phone, ipad, and laptop without having to buy additional cables. I would've preferred that the instructions in the box were slightly more in depth on how to do the initial set up but basically you just plug it into your laptop and run the Samsung Magician Software that's on it. It will walk you through setting up a password or fingerprint protections. It's really easy to setup and use gives me peace of mind that my data is protected. I decided to use this hard drive to back up my photos from my phone and DSLR camera. It took approximately 20 minutes to transfer all of the photos from my phone to my laptop and it took less than five for them to transfer to the new hard drive. The light on the hard drive flashes while it's in use to let you know not to unplug it while its writing. I'm pretty hard on electronics, in the two weeks I've been actively using this hard drive I've spilled a glass of sweet tea on it and my cat has knocked it off my desk onto hard wood floor. and it still runs like it's new out of the box. According to the pamphlet in the box its able to withstand a drop up to about 6.6 feet. While I don't ever expect to be dropping this from much higher than that it's nice knowing I don't have to handle it with kid-gloves. So far I've transferred around 3,250 photos to it between my phone and my camera and it's barely made a dent in the storage on this thing. I'm excited to see just how many memories I can fit on this pocket-sized hard drive. Based on my knowledge I expect to be able to get around 40x that on this device without it breaking a sweat. Overall, this hard drive has been great and I would purchase it again.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Let me start by saying this ssd is small and surprisingly very thin ! It's perfect for work because it does not take up too much pocket space . The fingerprint security is a very good feature it haze worked flawlessly . The read and write speeds on this thing are ridiculously fast , I have no problem saving Gb files to in a couple minutes . I would highly recommend this for work or personal use !

This thing looks the part but also has the features to back it up. The Samsung software is very easy to use and pretty intuitive. If you want to set up the fingerprint to secure the device it is a breeze and if you want to turn it off its a simple as a few clicks. I have a huge and clunky external hard drive that I use to store some movies and such. It takes a long time to transfer moves from my pc to that external storage. But with T7 touch it pretty much cuts the time in half or more given that you have a USB 3.2 Gen 2 port if not you will still see high transfer speeds on a USB 3.0 port. I would recommend this to any person that is tired of the slower/bigger drives, for the person that is security-focused (AES 256-bit hardware encryption) or the person that just wants the simplicity of plug and play with great software.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I recently upgraded from a traditional 500G HDD to the Samsung T7 Touch 500g SSD. I saved a lot of space from the T7's smaller profile - it's about the size of a credit card - but also saved a lot of room by getting rid of converter dongles. My old external HDD was USB 2.0 and my laptop only has USB-C ports, so I had to carry around a USB-C converter. The transfer speed via USB-C was noticeably faster. I was able to watch 4K movies directly from the T7 Touch rather than transferring the file to my laptop first like with traditional HDDs. The build quality on the T7 was top notch. I was less worried about damaging the T7 Touch due to its rugged construction. SSDs typically are much sturdier than traditional HDDs because there are no spinning discs, which added my feeling of security. The software was easy to install. It took me about 3 minutes to set the device up which included a quick reboot to install new firmware. The fingerprint sensor worked flawlessly. This was expected as Samsung has had years of experience with building fingerprint sensors into their phones. Overall, I would highly recommend this product. The 500G I received is a bit on the low side if you're using it as your primary backup device. However, as a device to move files around, it is perfect.
