SentrySafe Programmable Electronic Security Box, ESB-3

I had previously purchased two other SentrySafe safes, and have been completely satisfied with both of them (one heavy duty floor safe for file folders, and one large safe for guns, passports, and other valuables). However, THIS particular safe was not up to par with the quality I had come to expect from SentrySafe products. Upon initially unpacking the safe and testing it out, I noticed that I could actually open the safe without a using the number pad or the override key. All I had to do was apply a little force and turn the knob all the way to the left (until completely vertical), then push just a little bit more... and the safe opened. EXTREMELY disappointed with this purchase. I returned the item the very next day.

This safe is easy to use and light weigh. Great for storing medications and or jewelry. Great value.

We bought this with the express purpose of being able to keep things away from the prying eyes/hands of our kids. One figured out pretty quickly that a bobby pin inserted in the key hole made a perfectly useful override key- didn't even have to "pick the lock"- literally just used the pin as the key. TOTALLY USELESS!!

This "security box" has no security at all. Even a "locked" box can be opened without the use of code or key by pressing back on the lid. The "pin" is so short it can easily be slipped out of the corresponding hole in the box wall. The keys are supposed to be coded, but, by amazing coincidence, the code of our key is 001, and I suspect all these security boxes have the same key code. This "security box" can most generously be considered a cash box with fancy beeping lights.

This safe is wonderful for what we purchased it for. We needed a safe that would be large enough to hold our pistol and all our prescription meds as well. It is fantastic. Allows for 2 electronic passwords. My only complaint would be that it beeps loudly as you are putting in the password, so if you had an intruder in the house, and were trying to get the pistol out "quietly", it isn't working with this safe. All in all, an EXCELLENT investment!
