This Shark Lightweight Professional Electronic Iron is a literal dream come true for me. It combines the reliability and ease of settings you would expect from an expensive professional iron with the lightness and easy to maneuverability of an inexpensive iron. The iron has five different fabric settings. Which are set by pushing the fabric selector button on the iron's handle until you are at your desired fabric/heat setting. A green light shows which setting you are on. It has features that include a water spray button, a steam button, as well as, a switch to control the flow of steam. The Shark Lightweight Professional Electronic Iron also has an internal automatic off timer, an anti-drip and vertical steam features. All these awesome features fit into an iron weighing no more then five pounds when filled with water. It best feature in my opinion, I have saved for last at that is the five “legs” at the base of the iron, ensuring that it won't tip over when you are in the middle of ironing, (which has happened to me more than once). There are no words that can accurately convey how much I absolutely love this iron. I recommend if you are looking to buy a new iron, run don't walk to your local Walmart and get the Shark Lightweight Professional Electronic Iron, you will be happy that you did.
My first impression when unpacking this iron was WOW! It is a very nice-looking iron, (if you can describe an iron as nice-looking.) It has the appearance of good quality. The metal parts are shiny. The water reservoir window is tinted blue, the controls are well placed and easy to operate. It has a longer than average cord. When placed on end while ironing it feels secure and not like it's going to tip over. It's best to use distilled water in any iron to avoid mineral deposits plugging up the steam holes. This iron holds more water than other irons I have had so you don't have to fill it as often if you're doing a lot of ironing. There is a slide lever to control the desired amount of steam that you want, or you can slide it all the way to the left for no steam. The soleplate glides very smoothly over your fabric. The steam comes out evenly and I experienced no “spitting”. There are four fabric settings from low to high. The only criticism I have for this iron is that they are hard to read because they are under the handle and very small. But not bad when you get used to them. You turn on the iron and select the desired temperature with a button on top of the handle. The light on the temperature setting blinks until it is heated up, then becomes a steady light. There is a button for a burst of steam and a button for a fine mist of water. When using as a steamer in a vertical position, the steam setting needs to be all the way to the right to get enough steam. You can also use the burst of steam feature to get an extra blast for stubborn wrinkles. I found this iron to be more effective as a steamer than a portable hand steamer that I have. The iron is light weight so holding it upright for a while is not a problem.
I haven't had this iron for long so I can't really speak to the longevity of use but so far I can say I am happy with it. The soleplate is stainless steel and really glides well over the fabrics I have ironed so far. The first thing I wanted to try was the steaming feature and I was able to finally get out some packaging wrinkles from the drapes that have been hanging in the windows for some time. My older iron apparently wasn't up to the task but this one did a great job. I didn't experience any random drips during this job but the instructions tell you to watch out for it. I also didn't notice any odor when it was new but the instructions say it is normal if you do and that it won't last long. It may take a while for me to become accustomed to all the electronic features of this iron since all my others have been pretty simple ones, just turn a knob for heat level and either put water in or don't. I'll keep the instructions handy until I'm totally comfortable with the operation of it. I do like that it will turn itself off after a period of not being used. I would definitely recommend this product.
I iron all my clothes and this is by far the best iron I have ever used, this is my 2nd one the first one the Ex loser took it
This iron is light weight, easy to make selections and not cumbersome. In addition, the cord is LONG. This is my second Shark iron with the first one lasting ten years. I wouldn't have anything else.
