This is a great product that does exactly what it says! Please don't discontinue and run that "max hold gel" in it's place! The product says Strengthen and Restore Edge Control; it is spot on. I wear protective styles often, keep my natural hair very healthy, and use other Shea Moisture products to manage all of the above.I keep my edges long and healthy using this product. For those who are expecting a gel hold, they are misreading the product then writing a review based on their confusion. It completely controls your edges if used as directed. Put it on your edges at night or while dressing, wrap your silk scarf on your head and sleep or finish your morning routine. In minutes, your edges are neat and protected, without greasiness (don't use too much, a little goes a long way). Don't use this everyday. Every other night is how I use it, sleep with my silk scarf and wake to growing, beautiful edges. Sorry for the long review but I adore this product and I'd hate for it to be discontinued based on the reviews of people who can't figure out how to use top notch hair products.

Most of the people disappointed with this product are disappointed because they want to use it as edge control. It is NOT edge control, it is an edge TREATMENT. I have relied on this product for many years. This edge treatment brought my edges back when there were none. Use small amounts daily for many months. After a month or two, you will see your edges coming back BUT DO NOT STOP. Keep going. It fights receding hairlines and thinning edges, so use it always so that you never lose your edges again. However, after your edges come back you can start to use it less frequently (2-3 times a week).

My hair flourished during pregnancy. I always had really weak edges, but during pregnancy they were good. Then I had the baby and all of my hair was falling out. Not to mention, I didn't have time to properly care for my hair. I decided to pick this up because it had Restore and Edge and I have to say, I'm pretty impressed. My edges are slowly, but surely being restored. I am not using it for styling, but rather treatment, and I apply a bit every morning and every night, whether I am doing a wash & go or a twist out. I have been doing this consistently for a month, so time will tell...but I'm pretty impressed with the product and will continue to use.

I was finding that even if I moisturized my edges at night and wrapped my hair with a silk scarf, by the time I woke up they were dry. This product keeps them moisturized all night (which is so important for growing those tender edge hairs). The consistency is also perfect to REMAIN precisely on the areas that need treatment. I'm incredibly impressed so far! Great scent. If you're building a regimen to grow back tender edges, include this product!
