I and many others I know use this oil because it has the high zinc we need for flat tappet cams. I have a 1972 Plymouth Roadrunner with a 440 and so far no problems.
Been using in my tractor trailers for over 40 years and over 5 million miles. Never had an oil related failure. There are newer and more expensive oils o in t there, but it's hard to argue with success…
I have been using Rotella T ever since I bought my Dodge RAM diesel in 2006. The truck is used on the ranch and often on rugged terrain. For years commuted from Houston every weekend so lots of highway driving. Exceptional oil for my Cummins diesel.
My 1979 Volvo 244 DL with 231000 km has been treated to Shell Rotella T4 10W30 since Sept. 7, 2019, odometer at 215477. The overhead cam/valve sound is quieter at 3000 R.P.M. on the 400 series highways at 100 km/h. The rear crankshaft oil seal has stopped seeping oil this year. I used to use synthetic oil. I can experience that Shell Rotella T4 10W30 oil really agrees with the 2.1 L, B21 A naturally aspirated gasoline engine. These are long-lived engines, and anything I can do to prolong its life is appreciated. Thanks, Shell engineers, for the extra protection of Z.D.D.P. for the camshaft lobes!
I bought this truck almost 5 years ago it had 85,000 miles on it when I bought it it now has 123,000 and I have been using Rotella 15/40 - T-4 and have always change my oil at around 5,000 miles and i see most people don't change their oil until 7,500 or more it's been awesome I love the oil and the protection that it has, But I have got a question about the T-5 will it harm my engine if I wanna switch to synthetic T-5 or would I be better off staying with T-4 ?????
