Works well on a cement patio; the extra width gives more security while using the ramp. (The service from customer care was excellent!) [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
The heavy rubber holds up well under my mom's electric scooter. The extra width gives her more room in either side while she goes up and down through a wide doorway. The ramp does not slip around on a carpeted surface either! (Ps: I loved the service that we have received from costumer care every time we called for help when deciding on appropriate ramps.) I used this ramp to replace a wood ramp out my slider that was bumpy for my wheelchair. I had first bought the 1 1/2 inch threshold ramp which I love because it's a smooth, non noisy ride. Then I decided to buy the outdoor 3 inch rubber ramp. I would give it a 5 star except for 2 factors. One is that it has a very strong rubber tire smell (the indoor threshold ramp did not). I'm glad they are repurposing tires for this as it's probably one of the best uses I've seen so far, but the smell is strong. The other issue is the weight. Not a really big deal because once in place it just stays there but it's a bit heavy for people to move. Also, it doesn't need to be quite so wide for my use. An easy solution to address the weight and extra width would be to offer the same ramp in a less wide size. Same with the threshold ramps. They are more wide than necessary for my use. The ramp works well for my daughter's wheelchair. I had to put a pad under it to raise it, because I really needed a 3.5" rise and only 3" or 4" were available. My only complaint is that after nearly 2 weeks, it still gives off a strong rubber odor. It is not as strong as day 1, so hopefully the odor will continue to dissipate over time.
Been looking for a heavy duty, weather resistant mat to place at my patio door and in my garage to make access into and out of my home easier for my son who uses a wheelchair. This mat is perfect! Clean, attractive and doesn't take up a lot of space! Couldn't be happier!
