Singer Heavy Duty 4452 Electric Sewing Machine - Gray

I have been sewing for many, many years and already have two machines, not counting the 2 antique machines I inherited. I purchased this Singer because my dressmaking machine couldn't handle heavy or bulky fabrics. I wasn't expecting much, but it is perfect and has become my most used machine. The stitch quality is beautiful, and it handles all types of fabric. The straighforward design and features are a plus in my mind. I can make a lot of complicated things with this simple machine.

the machine came immediately. I have been using an expensive computer machine for 10 years. this time I got a regular electric one. it was like going back to an old friend. It is heavy duty to work on jeans and will also work on silks with the ball needle. Does a great zigzag too.I am very Happy with this machine.the speed is good, it can be used by a beginner or an old seasoned seamstress. I like it.

Don't let the “HD” on this machine fool you…it is not heavy duty. It was not able to go through 3 layer of Solumbra with a size 18 needle. The machine sometimes would seize with just two layers. The bulky design masks the boatload of plastic parts. Hardly heavy duty. It sewed poorly right out of the gate with a poor quality stitch. I have sewn for over 30 years and have sewn everything from bathing suits, home items, clothes, and camping gear. Wasted my money on this machine.

I purchased this recently. It is my third Singer 4452, but this one is different! I cannot remove the bobbin case without removing six different screws that are so small that I have to use a magnetic screw driver, a long handled screw driver, and “my husband” to do so! Not being able to simply remove the bobbin case so that lint can be cleaned from underneath is a pain in the neck and is very very difficult because the machine screws are so short. What a bummer, SINGER! I won't buy another 4452 and I therefore do NOT recommend this product any longer!

I bought this machine as a christmas gift to myself. I am very diappointed with the design. I find it very difficult to opperate. The numbers on the throat plate are too far to the rear and difficult to see. The voltage of the light seems to low to illumiate the work space. The all purpose foot is to wide, can't see the needle while sewing. I wish I had bought another model.
