Helped get me back on the road! Had to fix a flat with a screw in it and used this kit. My recommendation is to follow the instructions to the tee if you are fixing yourself like I did. It was not easy but simple since I had an inexpensive portable small air compressor that charged in my car and used it to give the tire some air. This will not work on a completely flat tire, you need some air pressure in it (not necessarily full but enough to get the rim off the ground) to maneuver the steering wheel with the screw facing outwards to remove it effectively.

I have been using these for over 10years to plug tires that Firestone would not fix. they last for months and months if the directions are followed exactly. I have even plugged a side wall or two long enough to be able to replace the tire. I have no idea how long they would last in the sidewall as I wouldn't risk leaving the tire any longer than necessary with fear of the tire blowing. I have had the sidewall plugged for up to a week when I could get a new tire. For regular plugging on the tread I have tires that have had plugs for over a year with no issues. Don't use stuff like Fix a Flat! The spray in stuff, all brands of spray in stuff, completely coat the entire inside of the tire and your wheel/rim on the inside! It is a nightmare to strip that stuff off your rim later on when replacing the tire and most places with charge a good amount to strip it. Using these avoids all of that extra time/work/expense and lasts longer.

This patch kit worked very well at patching my truck tire with a screw hole in the tread. As with all patch kits , its difficult to push the tool in for cleaning the hole before you push in the plug with the second tool , that is provided as well. There is no cut off tool provided with any repair kit that I know of , to cut off the excess plug that sticks out after the repair is done. But after the plug is inserted , make sure you have part of the plug inside the tire and part outside the tread. After the repair has set a couple on minutes , get a razor blade or scissors , and cut the excess plug off that is sticking out of the repaired hole on the tread. The included glue in this kit is not provided in other kits and it not only helps bond the plug into the puncture , but it also lubricates the plug as you push it in the hole. Its a little easier to get the plug in with the glue , and I like the added insurance that the plug is not going to leak after the repair. The glue helps melt all the rubber together. There are You Tube videos on the internet , that offer free short videos on using these Walmart SlimeTire Plug Kits. You will need to inflate your tire properly after the repair is made.
