Slimfast Meal Bar Dark Chocolate Cherry Cashew

I have given this five stars because it does just as it says it does. It tasted very good and is extremely filling. The first one I ate I had a hard time finishing because it is so dense. The rest were easier to eat because I knew what to expect. There is a lot of flavor in this bar. It is very filling and I did not eat between meals because I was not at all hungry. It satisfied my hunger and any cravings for 4-5 hours. Each bar has 10 grams of protein and 5 grams of fiber along with other vitamins and minerals. It is 200 calories, 90 of which are from fat. There are only 4 bars in a package but I have ordered more since. In my opinion these bars are a good meal replacement alternative and they do keep you from snacking between meals.

After looking for an acceptable replacement for candy bars, I found it! This Slim Fast Meal Bar has dark chocolate and crunchy nuts and grains which will satisfy my family's craving for sweets, and it's nutritious. I was hesitant to try anything Slim Fast, because "diet" usually means "bland" or "weird-tasting", but these bars are very good. I find that taking them out of the wrapper and serving them like cookies works very well when it comes to teens or husbands who will avoid healthy food like the plague. There is no need to skip a meal because you're busy or rushed. The thing I don't like is that if it's warm outside, the chocolate will melt. Don't leave them in your vehicle, unless you keep them in a cooler. Despite the one drawback, these bars are now a staple in our household.

Granola bars and their sugar content were making me fat! The 12 grams in many are approximately 6 sugar packets! I’m fairly active outdoors and thought that granola was the way to go. I read the nutrition info on the SlimFast bars and was surprised that I could have chewy chocolate, cherries and cashews as opposed to dry cardboard crunch. The vitamin load on these also excels most bars that are actually made by cereal manufacturers. 18 vitamins in each! Protein is what gives that “full” feeling and these bars have 19 grams, that’s half as much as a good steak! For about the same price I’ll now be throwing a handful of these into my backpack for the next hike.

With the reputation of Slimfast products, I was quite bemused to receive this non-food meal substitute. The old saying that if you can't pronounce it you probably shouldn't put it in your mouth definitely applies here. For 200 calories of highly processed chemicals, 9g grams sugar and 10g fat, with only 10g protein, this meal replacement bar does not even barely match up with other OTC protein bars (which have as much as 30g protein and as low as 1g sugar) in quality, flavor, or consistency. The chocolate layer on the bottom is pretty good, but the rest of the bar tasted like sugary cardboard, not cherry cashews. The sweetness of the product actually left me hungry, wanting more bad food that I shouldn't be eating. For the calorie and nutritional content, I'd eat real food and get a lot more out of it for 200 calories.

OK I said that correctly Chocolate and Cherry bars. If you remember the Kind bars that were out a year ago, this is slimfasts' version. This contains, many vitamins and minerals, so you are not missing out on those - so as a meal replacement it is well stated. I tried it for breakfast, four hours later I am still full. It is a great way to eat on the run without the fast food fix; and with the minerals, vitamins, nuts, cherry and dark chocolate, oh by the way they are Gluten free. This is a comfort for me so that I can have a snack that I can enjoy or I mean really who wouldn't what this for a meal. I wish I would have found these sooner. There are wonderful, 5g fiber, 10g protein, 18 minerals, gluten free; and made by slimfast. So go buy some, enjoy them and maybe lose some weight, which is my goal.
