This product does what it says it will. I had the opportunity to break it in the day after I picked it up when a major snow storm dumped close to a foot of snow. It cleared paths and I actually used it some on my driveway of course it took a little longer than a regular sized snow thrower but anything is better than back pain from shoveling.
The SnowJoe throws ice and snow with ease. I have a 900 sq. foot deck which takes an hour to clear with a shovel. The Snowjoe was able to do it in 10 minutes with very little effort. However the Snowjoe has one flaw and it's major. The housing which attaches the handle to the motor is made entirely of plastic and is held in place by only two screws. With moderate pressure the housing cracks and detaches itself from the motor, rendering it useless. TORO makes a snow shovel too, it costs about $25 more but it's worth it because it's not going to fall apart like the Snowjoe.
After waiting many days for the delivery of the SnoJoe, I opened the box, read the instructions, and began the so-called easy assembly. Much to my dismay, it took quite awhile to assemble, because the attaching of the lower unit to the handle took forever. Also, matching up the slots on the lower unit to the handle was NOT easy, and I had to compromise with it not fully seating into the lower unit. Then, guess what....after weeks of freaky snowstorms here in Western Washington....the rains, and higher temps came...melting and washing away the snow that I had intended on using the snowblower on. Now, it seems the rainy season is finally here...and no snowblower is needed. Good luck all...the assembly of that lower unit to the handle is quite a job. I hope someone at SnoJoe rethinks, or retools that assembly of slots to the handle, and makes it easier of the working public.
Bought this for my parents for Christmas. They were very excited to get it. Just hope it snows enough to see if it works properly for the job. It says it can blow snow 4 inches deep up to 20 feet away. Will know if I like it then. Cannot say for sure if it works until we get the snow.
I am a first time homeowner, so needless to say I have never had enough money to buy home improvement items. So this Christmas when my grandmother brought me the Snow Joe I turned into a little kid, I could not wait to use it. I had to wait there was nothing but ice then it melted and there was nothing. The first snow came this week. Bright and early I was out but not early enough. My husband had shoveled the snow without the Snow Joe (oh no). What little snow I could find was either walked or driven on. The Snow Joe does not work for this sort of stuff maybe if it had a hard scraper edge. I did manage to find some fresh snow and the Snow Joe worked wonders. I am so impressed, for it to be so small and light it really moved the snow. GREAT JOB SNOW JOE!!!!
