Was eager to use and evaluate the complimentary Sparco Sealing Tape since I routinely ship 20 to 30 lb boxes from Florida to the middle of Montana., approximately 2,500 miles away. Have three small Grandchildren, who are too far from shopping and toy centers, like WalMart. So, over a six to eight week period we buy toys, clothes, gifts, and school supplies to box-up and ship to them through the USPS. Our packaged, cardboard, 'Goodie-Boxes' travel by truck and are loaded and offloaded many times on their journey to Grandpa's little ones. It is extremely important that the boxes and sealing-tape are manufactured for HEAVY-DUTY use applications. After using the first roll of Sparco sealing tape was very impressed at how easy it is to use, how heavy-duty the tape is, it's clarity, and the strength of the adhesive. At the USPS website, https://www.usps.com/ship/preparing-domestic-shipments.htm?, they advise to, “Tape your box shut and reinforce the seams with 2-inch wide packing tape.” In addition to the top and bottom flaps, there are 12 seams to reinforce on the sides of the box. The Sparco tape roll is a generous sixty-four feet, and completely sealed and reinforced two of my 16” x 16” x 16' boxes. The strength of the adhesive is very impressive, and perfect for reinforcing all the box seams. Have used many other expensive sealing tapes claiming to be heavy-duty, but this Sparco tape is just that, and less expensive then the 'other' major brands. I will use it from now to package all of my 'Goodie-Boxes' . . . . . . highly recommend this tape, TIPS: -- You can use a dispenser, however I am more comfortable with just a sharp pair of scissors, coated with a drop of cooking oil to keep the ultra-strong adhesive from building up on the cutting edges. -- You can fold a half inch of the tape on to itself after you make your cuts, but it it really isn't necessary if you lay the roll down on its side. -- Use this clear tape to seal-over your address and return labels to protect from moisture during transport – rain or snow, which could smear your unprotected labels.
Well I've just finished using my new tape on some Christmas boxes I'm planning to mail out. And I'm happy to say I'll be giving a positive review on this tape. Tape is one of those items that you don't think much about, but you're always needing! Not a problem using it, but I'm going to buy a dispenser because I'm sure it will be helpful. It will also keep my ugly fingerprints from showing all over. The first thing I noticed was that even though the tape is not thick, it's plenty strong enough not to peel and tear. I have wasted so much on cheap store tapes that tear off right when you get the strip started, and then you have to feel and peel to get it going again. Then I've wasted money on name brand that maybe thicker but lacks the sticking ability. Not to mention needing extra rolls because there is so little tape on a roll! And one other thing, it doesn't stink. I've bought bunches before that have! In case the description doesn't list it, the label reads that a roll of tape is 1 7/8 inches wide, 164 feet long. I don't see the thickness, but it is plenty thick enough for packaging in my opinion. It is for mine. This tape is great and I would definitely recommend to anyone to purchase instead of name brands!
I was very happy to get this tape I have 3 grandchildren who live in South Carolina and I live in New Jersey so as you can imagine I ship a lot of stuff to them and I use a lot of tape to seal my boxes, and need a heavy duty sealing tape that won't get weak on me. So now that Christmas is near the rush has started with my shipping, and the tape is 1 7/8" wide and 164" long so I should get a lot off a each the roll. There is 6 rolls in the packaging I got, the first box I wrapped with the tape was very nice it was very sticky and wrapped around the box very easy, it's nice and clear which is good because I like to tape over the label so it's legible even if it gets wet and won't smudge the address. It was easy to pull the tape from the roll and didn't rip uneven like some tapes do. I would defiantly buy it again and would tell anyone who needs to tape boxes for mailing or even to tape boxes for moving to go ahead and buy it, it's well worth it. I wanted to take a picture of the box but it was clear so didn't really show up very well lol.
This heavy duty packing tape stands up to its name. I ship items out monthly and need to have sturdy packaging & tape. It's thicker and sticker than other brands I've used . My only issue is the start of the tape -blue line- doesn't just lift up in an obvious fashion. You have to pick at it get it started. Once started, you are all set. I found using this tape gives peace of mind knowing the package will arrive intact. at $15 for 6 rolls it's a good buy!
Two day ago it came to me this Sparco Heavyweight Package Sealing Tape for the first time. At first sight it looks similar to other tapes. I received a six rolls pack and the first problem began when I tried to separate one of them from the rest; it was not easy because there is nothing between them and the glue join them firmly. It would be a good idea if before packing the rolls, a piece of paper or whatever is put to easy separate the rolls. Anyway when took one I put it into my standard gun dispenser and fitted perfectly. Once unrolled, the tape is resistant, not so thin and sticky even better than other tapes you can find everywhere. I took a box, put some stuff inside and sealed it with the tape. Only one layer was enough to seal it. The tape sticks immediately to box surface creating a safe and dust free container. After that I took a smaller box and made the same but I put the little box into the freezer. I waited for two hours, took the box and the tape was completely stuck as two hours ago. In few words the tape is good and made its job as I expected.
