Springfield Digital Indoor Thermometer with Hygrometer

I bought 2 of these and the temp/humidity readings were as far off as 2.5 degrees from each other. There is no way to calibrate and when I tried to calibrate to an accurate thermometer the variations were not consistant. I guess you get what you pay for.

It's hard to find an 'indoor thermometer", and I bought this to keep watch on temperature in a newborn baby's room. The temperature seems a bit high and rarely changes, but I guess it might be working OK. But the "humidity" seems to register very low. We have a humidifier running in the area and this thermometer always says around 31% which is Sahara Desert readings. We ask the Humidifier to run to around 55%... Not sure it's working "right", but it's OK...

I tried 3 separate times to calibrate the hygrometer by the recommended method of bagging the hygrometer in a freezer bag along with 1/2 cup salt with 1/4 cup water for 8-12 hours. Hygrometer was supposed to read 72 - 75% after that time duration. Hygrometer only got to 55% each time. Not even close to accurate!

Works fine. I expected it to be larger than it is, but the display is clear and the magnetic clip on the back affords many mounting options. Having the Minimum/Maximum history button is a nice feature when you are not around to monitor all day or all night.

I recently purchased this to monitor the humidity and temperature in my guitar case. Before I trusted the readings from this, I conducted the salt/water closed container humidity test (google "salt hygrometer calibration" to find out the details). The hygrometer was accurate to within 1%. The temperature reading was within 1 degree of several other thermometers that I compared it with. Overall, for the price, this is an excellent little device.
