I got the epic at release with Sprint because of its great stats, but now that it's been a year and a half--the phone keeps getting worse and worse. The first year it was great, but unfortunately I can't get a new phone until my 18 month mark. These last 8 months have been a nightmare. My GPS died at 12 months--just as I moved to a new city. I now have to draw maps by hand or print out google maps directions before I can go anywhere. The phone can't read battery life, so my phone dies randomly. I hang up on every other person that calls me because of battery life. Just now I hung up on the lovely lady that is doing the flowers for our wedding. A few days ago I hung up on the receptionist for my dentist appointment. I have to call them back flustered and apologize for my poor phone that is dying because of engineered failure. At first the 4g was great, but now I think it just says it's working but it's not--the 4g is slower than my friend's 3g free with contract android phone. With every patch something else breaks on it. I thought at first since the GPS went out--well at least I still have a phone, but now I can barely talk on the phone with it. I guess at least I can still text. Oh also, this phone shuts down for no reason and freezes a lot especially when using the camera--and doesn't un-freeze so you need to force it to shut down and start it back up again until you can do the thing you want with it. By then the moment is over and you've failed at taking a photo.

I've had this phone for about a year and a half. It has been dropped, fumbled/thrown, kicked and continues to work beautifully! The screen is amazing and it's amazingly scratch resistant. I am a klutz and this thing takes a beating without missing a beat. I am now looking at the Galaxy SII but I really don't want to give up my sliding qwerty keyboard --that is the only hesitation. I cannot say enough good things about my Galaxy Epic 4G. Just amazing! I have many friends with an iPhone 4s and while it's nice; it isn't aren't as nice as my Galaxy.

I love the camera on the phone and the bright, clear screen. Yes it's huge, but not everyone wants a screen the size of an iPod Nano. There is a design flaw in that the side buttons are on the slide out keyboard, not the screen part of the phone. This means when you press one of the buttons, the keyboard tries to slide out. I can see some unnecessary wear and tear going on there. And the swype keyboard is cool, but it tends to use clumps of letters, not words. For the longest time every time I tried to swype 'the', I'd get 'tde' and it is determined that 'there' is 'rhett'. But it's a very cool idea. The biggest issue is the battery life. You don't want to go anywhere without a spare charger. I'd suggest a solar charger if you're going to be away from a plug in because the battery on this thing is not made to last more than a couple of hours if you're actually using it. The phone as a whole is excellent and as long as Samsung keeps upgrading it, I think it will last a long time and thus be work the money spent.

I WANTED A SMARTPHONE AND I AM NOT AN APPLE FAN. WHEN I RESEARCHED AND FOUND THIS PHONE,I THOUGHT IT WAS GREAT. HOWEVER, COMING FROM THE SIMPLE LIFE OF THE MOTOROLA RAZR, I THOUGHT I'D BE IN HEAVEN. NOT SO. AFTER READING ALL OF THE SUPERB REVIEWS, I BOUGHT ONE. HIGHLY OVERRATED PHONE. IT FORGOT IT'S A PHONE ABOVE ALL. THE SOUND QUALITY IS VERY POOR FOR PHONE CALLS ESPECIALLY DURING SPEAKER USAGE. I CANNOT SELECT A LIST OF PEOPLE FROM MY CONTACT TO TEXT AT ONCE. I MUST CHOOSE EACH ONE BY ONE. POOR FEATURE OR LACK THEREOF. I CANNOT CREATE FILES WITH MY PICS TO SEND A COMPLETE FILE. YES IT IS GREAT AS A MINI COMPUTER. OK GPS BUT A LOUSY PHONE. PHOTO QUALITY POOR/POOR/POOR. THE HTC IS MUCH BETTER. DON'T PAY THE HIGH PRICE FOR THIS PHONE.
