Al Capone and Bugs Moran battle for control of Chicago and the streets run red with blood in Roger Corman's vivid re-creation of the gangter era of the 1920's starring Jason Robards as Capone, Ralph Meeker as "Bugs" Moran and George Segal as the infamous gunman Peter Gusenberg. Effectively evoking the look and feel of "the old Days," with a keen eye towards gritty realism that bring to life all the swagger and menace of some of crime's biggest names, the film traces the bullet-punctured competition between Capone and Moran, carefully building to its explosive climax. The massacre on February 14, 1929 has become one of the most famous episodes from a time when you didn't negotiate with your rival.
