Stack-On GCB-910-DS Steel 10 Gun Safe and Compact Steel Security Cabinet

I'd prefer a gun safe which had a touchpad or biometric lock but all the alternatives are so pricey. This safe is a steal at the given price. It a basic safe that serves it's purpose and is an exceptional value. It's reasonably well-made, had decent room inside, is attractive in appearance, and beats the cost of all it's competitors. I recommend this product.

I purchased the Stack-On GCWB-10-5-DS Sentinel 10 Gun Security Cabinet from the Walmart Web-site in June 2016. The Security Cabinet arrived via Fed-EX within one week. The security Cabinet arrived in Perfect Condition with No Dents or Scratches. The Cabinet has a real nice finish and look to it. The Locking Device works easily, smoothly, and securely. I am into Handguns and not long-guns at all, so I added 2 Plywood shelves, plus the metal shelf that is supplied with the unit. Of course with Light-weight cabinets like this I had to fasten the cabinet to wall studs and to the floor to make it more secure. If you do not do that - someone could walk away with the whole cabinet as it only weighs something like 50 LBS. I was able to place Handguns which I keep in their Manufacturers Plastic Cases on the bottom of the cabinet and on the lowest plywood shelf. I have the cases standing on one end of their cases. Because I used 1 inch thick boards as risers holding up the half inch plywood shelves - I was able to fit in 5 Handgun cases left to right on the bottom floor and on my lower shelf. On the top Plywood shelf I have a few handguns in zippered cases. On the Factory Metal Top Shelf I placed a few Ammo Boxes. I also made sure that when I mounted the cabinet that I placed it inside a Closet to make it not as easy to see right away. Because I placed it in a closet I purchased this unit because after taking my measurements this unit fit the closet well. If I would have had more room or decided to not put it in a closet I probably would have chosen a larger storage cabinet. The cabinet does hold quite a bit. I highly recommend it. You can't beat it for the price.

I just removed the product from the box and there was no key to be found for the locked cabinet. There was a small empty resealable baggie tapped to the top of the plastic shipping cover but it was unsealed and empty. The product box was incompletely sealed at each ends with one strip of flimsy shipping tape. If a key ever was included it would have easily dropped out in transit. Now I have the hassle of returning. Disappointed.

ter looking at other compatible cabinets. I settled on this on. For the price I couldn't beat it. I got the 10 gun cabinet based on other reports that the 8 gun was just a little to small. I ordered it online and had it shipped to the store. After it came in I was expecting the worst based on reports that these units get damaged pretty much in transit. When I seen the box the first time I seen a few scrapes. Once home I opened the box and to my surprise there wasn't a scratch on it. I am pleased with my purchase and would do it again.

The unit arrived at my Walmart with the box in good condition. (No signs of mishandling.) Many people have complained about damage to the safe on arrival. I found the packaging to be MORE than adequate to prevent any damage unless major abuse had occurred. Others had written complaints about "missing keys". Mine were taped to the plastic covering the unit. I suppose that this could explain some of the "missing keys" if the buyer had not looked carefully enough. The paint and appearance are EXCELLENT. The door fit is fine and lock functions without problems. An average person COULD bust this safe open with some tools and time. It isn't made to be "Fort Knox" and nobody should expect that from anything in this price range. I have THAT kind of safe and it cost thousands. And it won't protect against fire. Same thing, spend more money and you can get that option. For the money I rate this unit HIGHLY. And it's MADE IN THE USA!
