I was a die hard fat max user for many years, and wouldn't use any other tape measure. These last 2 times I made the purchase, the product wasn't any good. Lucky to get 8' reach out and gave out in no time. The last one I purchased only lasted maybe 4 months and my spring slipped. I took it apart to rewind the spring but my proper tool to do so was on my job site. So I left it on my porch for a few days. I was inside and my son said he heard hissing but sounded like something broke. The white plastic part holding the spring in, exploded on my porch in hundreds of pieces. Cleaning it up, I noticed so many very small needle like shrapnel was stuck deep in my chair and screen from one end to the other. My son was out there 15 minutes before this happened. Thank god because he would have been pretty hurt. So beware, if the spring slips, just throw it away, it can be a very dangerous product.
