STANLEY STHT30830W 30' Leverlock Tape Measure

I've had an older LeverLock for many years that still works great. However, I was needing something longer, so got a new one about six months ago. Tape does not lock in place. So disappointed!

Bought this instead of others because of the locking but it stopped locking about 10 uses in, and tape slides back inside. Very frustrating. Stanley, like all our good brands (Maytag, Kenmore, Frigidaire,) are all gone to garbage.

I received the 30 ft leverlock tape measure as a gift. It is since then replaced every tape measure I own is my go-to. The locking system is just as reliable as my grandpa's traditional Stanley tape measure, and the extra few feet have come in handy in a few tight spots. I bought this tape measure about 8 months ago when I was remodeling a room in my house. Had the leverlock feature which I found very useful and actually was the primary purpose I bought it since I was doing the remodel myself. I doubt I used the tame measure more than a hundred times in that period of time and over the last 10 or so uses found the lock failing from 0 to 12 feet the lock barely holds, and at measurements beyond that it fails to the rate of abut a foot every 30 to 45 seconds. I have no issue with the actual quality of the tape, but if you are buying it more uniquely for the necessary lock function I suggest you look elsewhere.
