Preparing for an invasion by the Jem'Hada, the soldiers of the Dominion, Kira (Nana Visitor) determines that the station lacks the firepower to defend itself. When Sisko (Avery Brooks) arrives .S. Defiant, a warship originally designed to fight the Borg, they embark on a mission to the Gamma Quadrant to locate the Founders, the unseen leaders of the Dominion, and convince them of the Federation's peaceful intent. During the mission, Odo (Rene Auberjonois) begins to behave strangely. When the Defiant is attacked and overwhelmed by the Jem'Hada, Odo escapes with Kira and sets a course for the Omarion Nebula -- his homeworld!.
