During an away mission, B'Elanna Torres and Lt. Tom Paris are abducted by the phage-plagued Vidiians and taken to a secret laboratory. The Vidiians believe the Klingon genome may hold the key to curing this deadly disease and thus begin to experiment on B'Elanna, literally splitting her into two separate beings -- one fully Klingon, the other fully human. After enduring a series of excruciatingly painful experiments, Klingon B'Elanna escapes from her captors and finds her human counterpart within the Vidiian complex. But in order to find a way off the planet, they will have to learn to work together.
