The night I bought the humidifier, I got it started and the thing was soo loud. We couldn't even sleep, it sounded like a loud fish tank kept gurgling. I'm taking back tonight and will keep looking for something better.

After using this unit, Sunbeam Warm Mist Humidifier, Model#SWM5251-UM, for about 2 weeks on an almost daily basis I didn't find it to be a useful appliance in my experience. Pros: Auto shutoff, warm mist, high/low output selector. I placed the unit on a protective mat, but did not detect moisture from the high setting on furniture even in close proximity. Cons: The unit advertises a 24-hour runtime. What that means, after having used it, I haven't the faintest. In a 10x10 room only the high setting effects any slightly perceptible changes in the humidity level, the low setting being virtually worthless, and runs for only an approx 4-5 hours. The "medicine cup" holds only a 1/4 teaspoon of liquid, lasting perhaps 2 hours and in any event did not emit a strong enough menthol odor to notice. I tried the "solid" menthol rub too and it didn't work either. Because the tiny cup was so shallow and is flush with the vented top it was a bit awkward to fill without dribbling into the vent or down the side. I only used filtered water in my unit to prevent any "film" deposit. Although the unit is relatively easy to fill, if tap water were used cleaning it would require considerable more patience than I would care to expend on it. Bottom Line: If you're not sick and want only a very minor humidity level change, this unit will work for you in a small closed-off room. For me, I want a unit that puts out enough moisture to make it noticeably easier to breathe, and I don't want to go through the major hassle of refilling it in the middle of the night, all the more important if I'm the one who is sick or if I'm caring for a sick baby, I don't have the energy for it.

It's pretty good. Though it doesn't last all that long as it says when you put it on level 2, but it still is okay.

I purchased this product last night in the store. When i opened the package, there were loose screws inside the thing. I exchanged it for the same one and it is a hunk of junk! Save your money. it is cheap and does not work well. moisture builds up and drips down the side, soaking your floor. I am returning it today and will look for something different. very unhappy with this purchase!
