Best product to help your bowels move
I like this Acacia Fiber product. It is 100% Acacia Senegal - not the cheaper Acacia Sayal. I tried it when it was on sale (35 - 40% off) to compare to the brand I normally buy (Anthony's and prior to that Heather's Tummy Fiber). It is just as good and less expensive when on sale. It doesn't have a taste to it, has no iron in it (like some Acacia products do) and it dissolves well. I find it dissolves best (as do all Acacia fiber products I've used) when put into a dry glass, and then quickly pour in room temperature water (or other liquid) and stir briskly for 15 - 20 seconds. It may look cloudy at first but in a couple minutes it is clear and all dissolved - the same as Anthony's or Heather's. Other less desirable acacia fibers clump and glop in most liquids and take a MUCH longer time to dissolve (if ever) and some are rather brown/tan in color and have a taste that I don't care for. My only recommendation is to have a more "planet friendly" packaging. It comes in a 10 ounce plastic tub that could easily hold a pound of the fiber since there is a lot of extra space in there. Or perhaps use flatter foil packs (like Anthony's or Heather's) that take up less space, although they are not really recyclable like the Swanson's plastic tub is. Overall a great product for the price.
Great product, good price. 2 scoops in the morning w/ my almond milk and is enough to keep me regular on an on-going basis. Only slight gripe is, the powder needs a warm fluid to mix into, with some stirring involved. or if you use it w/ cold fluids, will likely work best if blended. other than that, it does work.
This product is my preference for supplementing soluble fiber. I mix this powder in with many other powders such as protein powder, sunflower lecithin, cocoa powder, dietary cellulose, etc., and then after mixing together a large amount of the powders I dissolve the powders into almond milk along with peanut oil and MCT oil before placing in the fridge overnight, which then provides a healthy and tasty drink throughout the following day. Because I mix the Acacia powder with the other powders BEFORE mixing into liquid, I do not have any issue getting this stuff to dissolve immediately. The problem I found with using psyllium as soluble fiber is that after it soaks in the liquid for a few hours it seems to soak up the flavor, causing a bland taste whereas the drink typically tastes very good. The Acacia powder is tasteless and does not alter the taste of the drink no matter how long I leave it in the fridge before drinking.
I find this powder very hard to dissolve. It clumps up even in hot beverages. Maybe "working" at it or putting it in shaker bottles will eventually unclump it and help it dissolve, but for me it's too inconvenient.
