Took about 2 hours to assemble. But once I put it to work it did pretty well. Only issue was when I fed about a 2" branch into the chipper. It tried to pull it in so fast that it bogged itself down and stopped. I had to open the chipper chute and the shredder cover to remove chips to be able to even turn it over with the starter rope. Only way I could dislodge enough chips was to vacuum them out with a shop vac and keep moving the shredder wheel back and forth till I was able to get it free. After I got it back operating I was more careful in chipping large branches by holding back the branches so they didn't feed so fast. Then it worked great. No more problems and I worked off a large tree worth of branches in a few hours. Made a lot of good mulch.
my first TAZZ (K32) was a bit smaller and the bolt for the shredder wheel sheared, brought it to the repair center and the repairs would have been costly. they sent a new machine, one step up (K33) to the repair center and they assembled it for me and I was out the door. They stand behind their machines and warranties!
I have a three acre property with plenty of growth to control in order to reduce fire hazard. I have put over 50 hours on my machine and challenged its advertised limits for size of wood to be chipped. It has never failed to perform. It always starts on the first or second pull. It has exceeded my expectations.
I've had a chance to use this chipper and liked its performance. This is not a commercial unit.....those use large engines and can mulch large 4 inch plus limbs. It can, however, make quick work of smaller limbs and leaves. We live on a ranch in Idaho with several large Maples and Locust trees and I like to keep them trimmed up. I no longer want to climb high into trees and work with a chainsaw overhead, because I like my head and want to keep it. For those jobs, I hire tree trimming experts with all the equipment necessary to do the job. For smaller jobs, get all the tools you will need to save your back. Chainsaw, pole chainsaw, ladders, loppers, pruning shears, gloves (be careful when feeding limbs with crotches. They can catch on your gloves and pull your hands into the chipper. ALWAYS feed the large end of a branch into the chipper first!). Eye protection, hearing protection and a nice set of leaf paddles with handles to save time loading leaves are necessary. I've considered getting battery powered pruning shears. They have a wide range in price, depending on homeowner vs. commercial models.... Bottom line, The Tazz K33 is well made, powerful and suits my needs.
After an easy assembly it took several uses to learn how to use its features. The hose attachment does not work with larger leaves, leaves get stuck in the hose, smaller leaves no problem. Watch it when using it near rocks they will get sucked up and make a lot of racket. Limb shredder has handled everything for its size with no problems. I would recommend this shredder knowing its limitations.
