TomTom NAVIGATOR 130S Automobile Portable GPS Navigator

I like this product. After reading some of the reviews on this product I had my doubts. There was a person in one of the reviews that said the product does not fit in the case. It a tight fit, but it does fits. The back of the Tom Tom goes into the round part of the case. The flat part of the case is the front. As far as Street names. I had to call Tom Tom customer service to ask why my street name didn't not work. I found out that only the Computer voices work to call out street names. Not the recorded voices.

I am technology challenged! Easy to program, problem with screen popping out of holder, ended up cracking first time used, but W/M replaced. Thank goodness. Use on dash (honda) and don't think this one has sun protection, voice was not loud enough for me. I am slowly getting the hang of hitting right thingsamajiggy, but sometimes hard for me. Arthritis in hands. I was disappointed that I have to purchase separate traffic device. I purchased bundle package, good price and delivered quickly. Like I said, technology challenged, so I have harder time. Interesting little gadget, hope it works on my 1500 mile trip, worked nicely for local 30 minute trip. Road construction had to go off main hiway and it directed back on. Had fun with it.

I have been playing with this for a couple of weeks now and I really like it. "Samantha" tried to trick me into driving into a field when a road dead ended but once I turned right she quickly rerouted me and did a fine job. One other time I purposely missed a turn to see what would happen and she tried to correct things by rerouting me through a church parking lot that did not exit the way she thought it did. I have forgiven her for both of these things though because she does a fine job of getting me around most of the time. She has a very clear voice that can be heard even in a convertible with the top down. (If only my husband could hear me as well under these same circumstances!). Seriously, I have not had any other gps units to compare this with but so far I'm pretty pleased. It may not have as many Points of Interest as what I hear Garmin or Magellan have but I think that more can be added from TomTom Home for free. I 'm planning on taking it on vacation in a couple of weeks - about a 500 mile trip - and I'm anxious to see how it goes. The case and home charger were nice added benefits and I got them because at the time I ordered this it was $135 just for the gps and only $3 more to get the case and charger. The gps recently was reduced to $119 but the combo did not get reduced. If I were buying it now I might not opt for the combo since the case is only big enough for the gps - not the car or home charger - so I will probably be using another case anyway but I still like having the home charger and I guess I still got a pretty good deal.

I purchased this GPS because of the price and the Text to Speech capability. The price was great but the Text to Speech was distorted. The volume range was limited and the only way to hear even garbled speech was to drive with the radio off. Garbled voices are not good when you are trying to understand street names. This would have been a great buy if the voices were clearer.

I WAS NOT HAPPY WITH THIS GPS..I WANTED TO HEAR THE SPOKEN INSTRUCTIONS AND IT WAS MUMBLING AND YOU COULD NOT HEAR THE DIRECTIONS AT ALL. THE SPEAKER IS TERRIBLE. THE GPS WORKED FINE, BUT THE SPEAKER IS REALLY A POOR ONE. IT IS BETTER TO UPGRADE TO THE NEXT ONE AND BE ABLE TO HEAR. I RETURNED THIS THE SAME DAY I GOT IT. I DID PURCHASE THE NEXT ONE UP AND THE SPEAKER IS GREAT...I AM ENJOYING IT. THE XL 30S TOM TOM.
