I had mine out of the box... saw the skinny wood pole and know that any wind might snap it. Also, the wood is like a bolsa wood... very light and to me means not strong. The material for the canapy is thin...very thin soft material. It will block the sun but heat and sun will eventually go through it. It will bleach out. The sun is strong here and this is just NOT worth it to me. I returned this the same day I bought it and paid a hundred more and bought one from costco. THICK material... pole is about a half inch wider... and it was METAL... tan metal... that wont break off like this toothpick. All this said... if you only have eighty bucks... buy this and hope it lasts or more than triple the quality for a hundred bucks more at costco.

Okay, this has got to be one of the largest umbrella's at this price. In fact, I have two of them. My two patio tables outside each have one, and the umbrellas overlap a bit. This creates so much shade it's like having a little roof over my patio. It is not a crank handle to open, which I like because they always break on me. Instead you pull a string on a pulley system. Then you pop a pin (on a chain) into one of the holes in the poles depending on what height you want the umbrella. Now the thing I like about the "pin on the chain" is that if a large gust of wind comes, your umbrella doesn't go flying. Instead the wind causes it to open up a little which in turn pulls the pin on the chain out, and the umbrella will close. This is great if you are at work and some unexpected weather comes in. No more worries! If the rope should break and the pulley system not work anymore for you (this happened to me, the rope eventually dry rotted) I am still able to open the umbrella by hand and put the pin in. It's awesome. No this umbrella doesn't tilt, I don't see how they could make something this large tilt. So if that's what your looking for then go get a small 9 or 8 ft one. This umbrella is huge and for the price provides a great amount of shade.
