Poorly communicated ingredients. Inactive ingredient is listed in one place, but only as "Flavor (Aroma)". The core of my low review score, however, is the fact that there is no ingredients list on the product page, and they tell you to go to "smartlabel", but that link is BROKEN; the page no longer contains information about the product, and based on the "Information updated on 08-Dec-2022" line, it seems it may have been that way for almost two years. This is beyond pathetic, especially for a health product, and even moreso for one that people are likely gravitating towards for its simplicity and tolerability of agents.
The new design leads more to squirt out of the tube if you keep it in your pocket, and doesn't allow for much control over how much product you apply & how it's applied. (Not good for people with sensory issues.) It also gets gross faster. The new tubes are pretty obviously designed to make consumers run out of vasaline faster & force us to purchase the product more often. (There's no other reason you'd ruin a perfectly good product in this specific way.) On the off chance somebody at Vasaline actually reads this (they won't,) I do want to point out that it probably isn't a coincidence that all the stores near me stopped carrying Vasaline lip therapy tubes stopped within a couple years of the new design launch. Maybe learn from your mistake and go back to the old, significantly better, tubes?
I have been using Vaseline Lip Therapy original or cherry daily for 25 plus years. The product contents itself is 5 stars but the new container redesign is a horrible flop in functionality, sanitation, and general aesthetics. The old dome style could be applied from any angle and didn't have a front and back so could easily feel it in my purse and apply without looking while driving or in the dark after climbing into bed at night as part of my routine. Now I have to look for the opening and see if there is a gob already on it. Old style had a small hole and you had to squeeze but the new style has a big opening and usually the stick on the cap pulls a gob out accidentally. This large opening also makes it not sanitary since germs can easily get inside and multiply. The tube itself now looks like prescription ointment and is embarrassing to use in front of other people. My son agrees and refuses to use it since it looks like lip medication as if you have a disease and the girly slant tip looks like lipstick. Looks like a lot of other reviewers agree that they need to go back to the dome top so fingers crossed.
The new design - with the "square" cap and angled applicator - is terrible. Not trying to hurt anyone on the product development team's feelings...but it sucks. I'm giving this feedback in hopes that Vaseline will revert to the old design, else I'll have to find another product. I see that I am not the only one displeased with the "upgrade" as well... Chock this one up to a loss.
I've used Lip Therapy for YEARS and really miss the cherry version. The blue tube just has an unpleasant smell and can't use it that close to my nose. I've tried the mini jars, but didn't like digging it out from under my nails. Makes it a little unsanitary to put on my lips. Please bring back the cherry version.
